What do you guys think a 300e24 saloon is worth spares and repair?

Any specific parts worth money, eg engine?
How broken is it? I have a spare garage if its not totally rotten and would take it whole
It's not really broken, it just has all the front suspension removed to be replaced and a top hose removed as i'd purchased a new thermostst and metal top to replace the plastic one as a precautionery measure.

Have we had this?

I have fond memories of a traffic light grand prix against a XR3i in the early 90's in one of these. Some how myself and a friend were allowed a directors V12 XJS despite being about 21 at the time.... We almost lost the back end on the M27 and managed 3.5 mpg at one point according to the OBC!

Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 55000 miles £4,990

Could be a bargain at £2.5k (or even less) if it's as good as it appears to be!
Dead man's waft would put a lot of folk off mind. Looks nice.

These are staggering value for money. It's not as if they are fragile or unreliable or even particularly prone to rot. They're a bit Heath Robinson in the details but even so, the value of money cannot be faulted.

Did you catch the back end on the M27 or did it all end in tears?

Does anyone have the bumper paint-code for pre-Sacco panelled W201/W124s? I'm normally good at finding the info I need, but this one is really eluding me.

Crap pictures, but that leather looks factory fresh.

Seriously over-priced and over-wheeled/under-lowered, but I love the colours.

It squatted, squirmed and squiggled but it came back into line. Quite a shock from just a kick down but we lived. biggrin

For those of you that remember the 'council' Rolls that my mate had since last summer, well it had to go for various reasons and after sticking it on AT he had an offer to swap for a 2005 XJ6 3.0. It took a bit of persuasion but in the end we managed to do the exchange yesterday..

I really wanted to buy that and was chatting to your mate for a while, then my storage option went wrong so had to give it a miss. Annoying as it sounds a cut above the average £5k Roller.

That XJ is a beauty. I wish they have kept the 'faired in' handles from the previous version, they're a really smart feature.

They are self-coloured, i.e., unpainted, the plastic coming in the requisite shade of grey. I think if you had to paint some to match, you'd be looking for gallinit grey but I cannot find a code. They're available after market relatively inexpensively, I think. Like £100 a bumper.

Shades ought to do better than that. Nasty bump in the rear end?

Over-priced by a factor of 5! Maybe 10 reading the list of problems. Lovely colour: it is Petrol, not Willow Green as claimed.

The leaper is awful, and would have to go. I don't think the eye-level rear brake light is original, and that would make me worry about what else had been bodged. That, combined with a really poor ad, puts me off rather, but I love these things.

If it has a five speed auto, that is worth something. They're quite rare (they were a cost option) and they break.

A leather interior in passable condition always has value. Ditto wheels and wood.

The engines are pretty worthless.

£300 to £500 seems to be the going rate for such a car in the Merc club, although it also depends where in the country it is.
The real value is in export. Any running 124 tends to be worth 500. My phone was off the hook when I sold my spares/repairs 230ce - I even had one African pretending he had won the ebay auction over the phone after he lost out hehe

I do like the Rolls-Royce.

The high level brake light was fitted on RHD cars sold in a number of export markets, so it could be original if the car has been imported. The sides of the car have been painted at the very least; the coach lines should not go round the doors, the stripe should nearly reach the edge of the door, but not quite.

Shouldn't this be in the 'badly modified' thread - wheels, tyres, steering wheel, bass bin. It is a nice colour though.

The bow tie makes up for the other mods.

I see. Thanks.

Not sure I want to replace the bumper given it's only a scratch, might have a closer look and see if it won't wet sand out, but I think a bit of paint in there would definitely help.

That's been for sale for a good 3 months. I remember thinking about posting it and deciding it wasn't worth it! Ruinous bork lies therein I fear.

Derin recommended a bumper paint for these, which leaves a slightly textured finish. I used it on my 230TE with good results. I'll see if I can find his e-m when I get home and post a link here if I can.
