Looks great Graeme
Cheers Ben, I'd never even sat in one before I picked this up, and I was very pleasantly surprised with how nice a place it is to be. If anyone knows of a lairy coloured R300 or R400 K series for under £20k give me a shout ;o)That 530i that has just been procured looks awesome, as does the rat look C43 - shame it's not an estate, then it would be even better!
Damnit, I really REALLY want an XJR now.

Not quite an R300, but not too far off and a good spec and with the newer Sigma engine:That 530i that has just been procured looks awesome, as does the rat look C43 - shame it's not an estate, then it would be even better!

I need to add my thread purchase!!!
So after searching for a half decent estate to lug mountain bikes around, but also a nice place to be for the weekly 100 mile round trip to HQ - but fundamentally something that might sit around for most of it's time, my search for diesel sport 5 series tourers left me thinking £10k on a 100k mile LCI car was not the right thing for my needs. Then I thought (as I turn 40 on Monday) the time had come to pop my 911 cherry. As I can't afford what I want anymore (997 GT3 or air cooled something), I felt a 997 carrera would feel too refined.
So long story short, started looking for Saabs and spotted this:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Put the call out on this thread to see if anyone could peek at it (it's 300 miles away), and Minemapper went far above and beyond by answering, and going and giving it a good poke around the very same day! That evening, a deposit was wired and I picked it up Wednesday, stopped over half way back for a work meeting, and it's been on my drive since last night.
It is a WHOLE heap of car for the cash, looks better in the flesh than in the pics, frugal on a run, and pulls like a train.
Happy bunny now has enough spare cash to think about another Caterham in lieu of something pork based ;o)

Nice . It's strong but if you'll keep it a while and keep it correct it's very much worth it.
Just wish they'd behave regarding the 10k mile 740i price as its a little silly at the moment
That 740i is an odd one - a '99 shouldn't have colour coded sills or clear indicators, and a Sport should have M Parallels, Sports seats (Those are heated Contours, which are an improvement imo) and a black alcantara headlining. I guess its possible those were all changed by plundering the Individual options list, but it seems unlikely?Just wish they'd behave regarding the 10k mile 740i price as its a little silly at the moment
That said it looks very nice! The rubbers around the shadow-line hofmeister kink appear intact -which would be a first for an E38 in 2015!

PTF that's a nice looking car, but started out as a racer and if I was going non K I would save a bit more and get a Duratec Supersport R or R300/400 (don't ask why, petrolhead logic / man maths - but mainly to hold the deprecation curve on a more desirable config).http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...
There's a pretty hot 2001 red K series car with a 200 horsepower K series and some nice bits that looks mighty tempting though!
Full colour coding was always an option for E38s, i twas possible to spec a sport pack on them befor eth eintroduction of the Sport model, that was comprised of full colour coding, 18" style 32 multi-spokes, sports seats, steering wheel and suspension settings and de-chroming, with silver headlamp inserts on pre-facelift models.
That aside, plenty have been retrospectively upgraded with clear lenses and wheels plus colour coding as the years have gone by.

Olly / Graham it puts on speed quite quietly but keeps doing so (ie if you go WOT at 80 leptons it pulls the same as it does doing it at 50). With the Hirsch kit I was expecting the pipes to be a bit more vocal, and the shove to be a bit more urgent, but six bangers do tend to feel smoother - thought the blower might give it a bit more "edge".
I will get it checked over just to check for any split boost hoses to ensure it's performing as it should - the problem is I've just jumped out of a Megane R26 F1 with the same power output with lots of lairy bits, so it was always going to feel more sedate and relaxed than that.
I feel like I've stumbled on a bit of a secret everyone else doesn't know about - I keep reminding myself that I paid £3850 for it, then grinning like the village idiot. I will have to do that each time I pay the road fund license mind, but I can't see what I would change it for and why - even the sat nav functions well enough to be of use (I had visions that it would be borderline un-useable for no real reason).
The acid test is on Sunday - will my YT Capra Pro and my portable power washer fit in the back with just a removed front wheel ;o)

I didn't know any of that - consider me schooled then! Excellent beard-age!That aside, plenty have been retrospectively upgraded with clear lenses and wheels plus colour coding as the years have gone by.

Were it a 2001 in that shape it might, might, be a £10,000 car but £15,000 is just a bit too strong IMO

Massively O/T but what was the delivery on your Capra Pro like waiting time wise? I want a Tues but heard a horror story last week of someone waiting a year for their Capra!I will get it checked over just to check for any split boost hoses to ensure it's performing as it should - the problem is I've just jumped out of a Megane R26 F1 with the same power output with lots of lairy bits, so it was always going to feel more sedate and relaxed than that.
