That looks nice. Never been in an S6 before but the A6 of similar vintage were a nice drive. If the cam belts been done it should be as trouble free as any 20 year old car can be.

Yes you can almost see the soft top disintegrating as they race round the track trying to beat the Stigs time set in a Morris Minor convertible.

That's fab smile well worth the money if it's in good order. Interior trim can be a bit fragile on these if abused, but if not it should be capable of double that mileage without major issue. Turbo could go, but you'll be having too much fun to care with the 5 cylinder warble!

As good ones are seemly 'worth' £10k+, here's a 'not so good one'. A bit cheaper though.

Audi S8 Quattro For Sale (1998) A lovely example in black july mot recent respray and work on suspension, valves, water pump, and timing belt huge spec including front and rear heated seats suede roofcloth ,sat nav ,climate, air con, phone ready, sat nav solar panels, sun roof, grey leather electric seats, unmarked alloys 109k miles cat c due to light damage in 2009 fantastic car amazing to drive supercar performance and handling. £1,850
Can't find the ad for that one? Does look decent vfm if the respray is any good. Pre-facelift cars do seem to be worth a good bit less, probably because they're closer to the much older S6 above in terms of interior which has aged them quite a bit.

I also came across this one with a new gearbox and plenty of other recent spend - the chavved tail lights would have to go but the spec looks very good and the mileage isn't silly

The covered compartment on the right, if it's factory and not a retrofit, suggests it has an electrically heated front screen (or left the factory with one anyway!) - if so it's quite rare spec and nice to have.

I spent a few days in Hamburg this week and was heartened to spot four of five W124s still being used as Taxis and still looking good. Must have had moon miles by now as well.
Doesn't echo my experience last year I'm afraid - did a 600km loop to the east of Stuttgart in May for work, staying in Ochsenfurt overnight - saw nothing of that ilk on the road, and a single W124 and W126 during our overnight stay. We had three days in Stuttgart in December and saw one private W124 - some of the taxis outside our hotel were Kias for heaven's sake! Quite disappointing, particularly given it's MB's home. Perhaps they only come out on sunny weekends?

I know someone who had a Volvo V70R from new and as soon as the warranty finished put an LPG kit on it. He reckoned it was never the same again and went wrong a lot.

It could've been a cheap kit and fitted by a bodger though, I can't remember the details now.

A budget-buster by a factor of 3, so my apologies, but this is the epitome of barge and the epitome of cool.

A DS is a bucket-list car for me, sadly by the time I can afford one they'll probably all be 50k!
