A budget-buster by a factor of 3, so my apologies, but this is the epitome of barge and the epitome of cool.

Marrkesh is the place to spot old Mercedes taxis we were picked up from the airport by a beautiful w126, loads of those and w124s smile
We had great Mercedes experience in Marrakech. If I remember rightly La Mamounia collected us from the airport in a W140, then just about every cab we caught around town was a W123, and the next hotel (cant remember which) sent a W220, which after the previous fun, was a bit of a disappointment.

(Jimetta is a travelwallah. So this was all approximately free. which just might have positively affected my recollections.)

Going back to 124's, this was my very first 124, bought over 10 years ago. In fact, I sold it and bought it back again, it was that good.

Having seen it now, with its strange exhaust and suspiciously stained seats, I won't be bidding again. Having said that, I brought my first-born home from hospital in it, and it was my first ever Merc. Another glass of red, and I'll be tempted!

The seats can be cleaned and the exhaust tip is just an add on.

You owe it to yourself to buy this car.
You owe it to your first born to buy this car.
You owe it to the car to buy this car.

enjoy your glass of red.

A nice, 12500 mile 530i for only £20,000

I'm pretty open minded regarding values but, really, £20,000 is a little on the strong side.

This, on the other hand, I've held off posting for 24 hours as I've been really, really considering it. Anyone fancy a low mile XJR V8 project wink

Run of the mill, old 5 series for section-warranting money. Just who are the potential buyers for such a thing?

I think it'd be a great thing to knock about in. Part of me still wants to make the call but with a kiddy on the way I'm not sure I'd use it much

Thanks for your efforts to talk me out of it!
I remember selling it to the chap who is the current owner. He's way past the first flush of youth, and he rang me several days after buying the car advising me that he had managed to achieve the advertised maximum speed....

Sometimes I see ridiculous prices on adverts and am slightly amused. Other times you wish they wouldn't bother with the tedious details at all and instead write "tts wanted -Give us your money".

Looks nice (aside from the mismatched rear lights).

It has a good trick of being a £20,000 car that will look like a £3000 car if you don't wash it after a week of driving.

Agree with all this. Fantastic car that looks like it needs a bit of love to become another member of the family.

All the motors in the world, most of which you'll never get to experience and you want to buy back the exact car you've already owned, now it's more tired and abused?

One of them with timing chain tensioners already done must be high up on the value for money scale.
