I have it booked in there. They come well recommended.
I took my SL there just after purchase to get a view on what might need doing in the future. Nice chap, seemed to know what he was talking about, has an AM in the garage, and lots of decent metal hanging around. Tiny little place that can be challenging to find!

He wanted to waive the diagnostic fee - I had to insist on paying! One of my staff had work done there and was very impressed.
I hope they can sort it out at a reasonable price, as the car is running and handling well.

QT - can you not simply leave the roof down, and attach hard top when you fear rain?
I suppose I could, but as I use it eveveryday, easier to just leave the hardtop on.

I have the car booked into a folding Roof Specialist, as my usual merc independent does not want to take on R129 roof repairs.

Wish my wallet Good luck.
I don't think it's an uncommon fault unfortunately - in my car's bundle of receipts etc there is an invoice for investigation and fitting of a new roof ECU (part only cost £998 - probably not MB at that price), a note of FOC replacement of the ECU 3 weeks later (confidence inspiring!) and then a £412 bill for ECU repair 2 years and only 6,000 miles (and probably not a lot of roof operation cycles) later. Probably only a matter of time before it goes again - I think I will leave the hardtop on!

I'm sure it shouldn't, but seeing the radio tuned to Kiss sets my spidey senses tingling.

A very good friend of mine (school mate and best man) is selling his S124. He's a lapsed MB Club member and serial S124 owner - his last one was suspected stolen to order and shipped south. He's now hankering after an S210 and looking to sell.

Cosmetically, this one isn't concours and at £1.1k I'll probably mention it in the bargain thread as well but I know he's put money into the mechanicals with a long-term view.

Now reduced to bottom of thread budget at £950 - he's had little interest unfortunately but the S210 is incoming and he's fearing parking permit and insurance woes having 2 motors.

Well i've taken the plunge and bought myself some retro barge goodness. Just picked it up and driven the 30 miles home.

No pics of my own at the moment but one from the original advert.

What a lovely looking thing in a classic colour. What
engine and interior does it have?

I'm surprised he's not having any luck. Is it on e-bay and all the other usual sites?

Trying to sell a £30,000 luxury car with the radio displaying Kiss.fm? What a piss take!

Get it in Gumtree as well - cheap practical cars seem to sell there well.

Very nice. Let me guess the model! hehe

It's a late car, so the headlights tell you nothing. The bumpers have rubber side pieces though, so it isn't a 280E. There seemed to be a lot of 230Es sold towards the end, so I'm guessing it is a 230E, rather than a 200.

Colour looks to be light ivory - always one of my favourites on this era of Mercedes. It looks great with the chrome and is somehow prettier than white - which ion a Mercedes was a bit too white. I can't make out the interior, but it looks to be slightly shiny - so maybe leather or MB Tex. Palomino MB tex?

I find the AMG badge more offensive.

But that price is ridiculous. It's a nice car for a fifth of that.

I like the colour and the interior, but really, approaching £30k for one of the least loved models of S-Class! It's not ever hyper low miles either at 50k.

interesting to see our similar cars are only a plate change from each other, yet quite different in style.

Location, Location, Location.

It would sell ok up north if it was mechanically sound, sadly its in London, so you need another £500 off for the hassle of going down there to get it and hoping you make it back.
