A proper engine. I know the post-facelift is a better car, and that this probably has some depreciation to go, but tempting nonetheless if one needs to get into something younger than a 124.

Bloody hell! That's a lot of car for not much cash.
Someone went to see that and wasn't impressed, ended up buying a JRG example instead.

Don't seem to get many Daimlers on here?

Lovely car - the rust sounds a little worrying though
Indeed. Shame no detailed pictures included of the area needing attention. Very similar to mine, even down to the colour, but on much less than half the mileage mine has. Looks like it could be a really nice car but having to replace a wing would probably put me off too.

That sounds like a good un. Which good recent spend, that would be a very cheap way of running around.
Makes me wonder what I'd get for mine: my wife had a baby boy on Tuesday which got me thinking about reducing the fleet.
Congratulations Harry. I agree with CdeG - surely, an excuse to lay down some barges for the lad?!

Full on Mercedes day today!

Was out in the R129 and whilst swapping the old Nexen tyres for a set of Pirelli P7 Cinturatos and a rather glorious AMG SLS 6.3 rumbled up behind me. Yum! By the way BIG improvement in ride with the P7s though I also suspect previous tyres weren't well balanced.

A short while later when passing Hill Farm Garage at Sutton Scotney I spied a 190 on their forecourt and took a look. Looked pretty good I have to say. Can't seem to link photos though via the iPad.

That car has been up for a while. Note how the seats don't match the door cards: at some time in its past, somebody swiped what would have been a very nice sportline interior and left in its place standard chairs. So, not "totally original" at all.

I run my 129 on Pirelli P7's. They suit it so well, being compliant and quiet.

SLS is always an event, we've had one since new in 2010 and every mile is s pleasure, irrespective of speed or destination.

yes bodywork needed a lot of attention (fair bit of near side trim was missing and offsifpde front wing had a bad repair to it. The interior was manky and it wouldn't even start. The Cohenmobile, as my mates have named mine, isn't perfect but was in much better nick and came with brand new SBC pump to boot.

What a dreadful advert... Almost wilfully bad like Lingscars...

That will go for at least £1000, if not more. Looks very clean.

I should think so, late car, low miles and appears to be good condition, poor advert or otherwise.

Had a passenger ride round Dunsfold / Top Gear in an SLS, was bloody awesome - more so when it started raining :-)

Congratulations Harry. However, your thinking is wrong. An extra human equates to needing an extra car. You should be looking to buy, not offload...
Yes - Hearty Congratulations Harry!

Well i've taken the plunge and bought myself some retro barge goodness. Just picked it up and driven the 30 miles home.

No pics of my own at the moment but one from the original advert.

Gorgeous. thumbup

interesting to see our similar cars are only a plate change from each other, yet quite different in style.

That has polished up beautifully Woody, I'm impressed. What colour is it and is it a good old-fashioned solid or clearcoat over base?

What would a 2 owner high spec e320 get with loads of work (about £4k) done go for? All that's left to do is the paint and leather refurbished...
Or a could sell the V12 if anyone wants a project... confused
Heartiest congrats Harry! Hope wife & boy are doing well.

Surely this is the ideal time to 'lay down' a nice starter classic for his 17th birthday?

Harry - any chance you could post a photo of a car(s) that you might possibly be considering selling in the future? You know, just for the theoretical interest of threadists.
