Best smoker barges 1-5 large [vol8]
Discussion
I'm up in the highlands with the SL - what a fun car with the roof down. I'm not sure why I was worried about leaving the hardtop back in Edinburgh. There's a little more wind noise but Radio 4 can be heard well enough.
I am just getting back to thinking it's acceptably quick again after a very kind chap took me out in his 918 last night... and let me drive it briefly. It would definitely make a very poor barge. Otherwise it was astounding! Clearly miles beyond my capabilities as a driver though, even on a short drive!

Bare bones spec S-Class here. It looks rather lovely, but I'm not sure I could stomach the absence of air con in a 'S' (despite the ad recounting its presence, it's not there). Still, less to go wrong and it looks lovely in Bornite, a colour designed for the 140. £4,000.
The dealer is very much our kind of dealer: sub £5k smoker barge-tastic.

I like the looks of it, but no air conditioning on an S class is completely unacceptable! The dealer is very much our kind of dealer: sub £5k smoker barge-tastic.

Lovely car all round and the dealer is a good guy - I bought my XJ8 from him. I couldn't do without AC either though. The dealer is very much our kind of dealer: sub £5k smoker barge-tastic.

Heres a curio.
Lancia Thesis imported from Italy with the Alfa 3.2 Busso! 250+ BHP according to the seller.
Asking €4k (€5k on advert, but €4k on the Dutch Alfa forums).
Looking at the rear shots: "Hmmm that's a bit strange looking, but alright."Lancia Thesis imported from Italy with the Alfa 3.2 Busso! 250+ BHP according to the seller.

Moving on to the interior: "Now that looks quite nice in there actually".
Then scrolling down and seeing the front view:

What were they thinking.
The engine does look like a 300-24 but the government system has it down as 3.2, not been taxed since the end of November and out of MOT last month as well.
They were always 3.2s in the 140, from the off. But it does have the same rocker cover as the 300-24 engine. Presumably it is a 3.2litre version. In which case it would be quite different to the later 3.2litre straight sixes.
Edit: a bit of googling suggests that early w140 300SEs came with a 3.2litre version of the 300-24 engine, which is basically a m103 with a 24valve head; the fuelling was different, however. The engine type number is 104.990.

Thanks guys. Will put some pics up on my return.
Back to business: this has popped up in NI recently: really like the e31 but I'm now skint for the forseeable. Good value in my eyes.

The wheels look fantastic, if more difficult to keep clean than the throwing stars. Would love a set for mine some day.

So, you're selling something unusual. You're selling it somewhere that doesn't much like them. It's a tiny market. And you reckon you can get away with 4 short lines in your ad. What a muppet.

I really like those BMWs, but these days they have a somewhat niche appeal.

Maybe the wife gave him an ultimatum. Now he can say he's advertising it, just hoping no one will call So, you're selling something unusual. You're selling it somewhere that doesn't much like them. It's a tiny market. And you reckon you can get away with 4 short lines in your ad. What a muppet.
E31s are hugely underrated at the moment. You can get a huge amount of car for the money which is so different to modern or other modern classic offerings. Regularly get admiring comments on mine when at petrol stations, far more so than the TVR. Even had offers to buy it! Good ones are hard to find, all the ridden dross is being killed off thankfully living mainly cherished cars left.
