So it looks like I might be back in the market for a £1-5k bargain barge of the family estate variety.

Mrs G's family wagon had an unfortunate coming together with a waste truck yesterday evening, and I suspect it'll be touch and go whether it is deemed economically repairable. banghead

Derin's W124 is looking more appealing than ever...
I saw this earlier. 300TE-24 7 seater, of 1990 vintage.

Lots of miles, and sub-lower limit of the thread, but SOOOO much potential to spruce up and make your own...

That f01 is lush. I'm obsessed with leather dashes for some reason.

@v12amg: FYI the Pioneer head unit in my s124 has adjustable illumination, auto dimmer for lights and different colour options too.

It looks like I will have to wait until next week to get the 500SL back, as the exhaust people need to order some tubing to fit onto the manifold. Oh well!

A quick question - the car sometimes takes a few turns before starting - is this an easy, known fault to fix?

I picked up the 300E which is now sounding polite again after a new back box, I will do 800 miles or so in it over the weekend. I'm looking forward to it. It's like having an old friend back! The quality and ride are much better than the SL.
I has something similar, two bottles of injector cleaner and an Italian tune up sorted it out.

You could also get a Terraclean done.

Yum indeed.

Luckily, as his last line makes clear, there's 'no admin fee'. Good job - anyone that adds an admin fee can fk right off.

Mini-barge lifted from the retro thread. Under-budget, but a few jobs to do should lift it into here.

Shame it is a catd - but pictures of damage do not look too bad and no history.
I may, allegedly, have made contact with vendor.

What was that I was saying only a couple of days and a few pages ago?!
This is in Boro, isn't it? If you need someone to go and have a look, it's only 45minutes from me. Would probably have to be next week, though.
Thanks Jonathan, that's a very kind offer - and I know it's a genuine one.

But, the car is sold already.

I wonder to whom . . . . . .
My last post may have been a bit too subtle

Depends on the coilpack lottery. As alluded to a couple of pages ago the V12 has cylinder deactivation on one bank which tends to muck them up.

If they have an admin/selling fee..... Then I insist I have a purchasing fee. Coincidentally it matches the selling fee.

Agree, they're cheeky fkers who do that.

I thought that's what you were alluding to! Many congratulations - bornite really does look good in the metal.

In other news, I'm hoping my 190e comes back today - update to follow. These little things have a growing following here!

That n/a V12 engine suffered from a oil cooler leakage in the middle of the V. Hugely expensive job (a few grand).

OOoo, yeah. Forgot about that issue on the M137.
Oil cooler just sits under the lips of the cylinder heads. To do the job properly, both heads off and split the gearbox away from the engine to properly clean it out and replace gaskets.

Yeah, sure, but simple and cheap, right? Right?

If you took that CL to a main dealer to do the oil cooler job; You'd probably pay more in parts and labour than you would for the car in the first place.

Hahaha, passed me by, that's for sure. Where are you flying into? Need a lift or anything? Coffee or lunch? We're very hospitable in this part of the world and I feel bad about not buying your SEC.
