A 58k mile LS400 in a nice colour for £1,750 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

If you have big miles to cover and don't want to sink much money, this could be a good way to do it.

I am a bit tempted myself.

95k miles 540, looks to be in great condition. The seller claims he will keep it if it's not sold by the end of July but the ad's still up.

Perhaps time for an offer on the £2.5k asking price? Perhaps a nice car, but the market for old, thirsty, non-classic 4 door cars is very limited indeed.

Crumbs, look at it! It is probably the perfect saloon car. Unusual and still so understated yet with that devastating engine and transmission combination. Great, great colours. I can't understand how that is still for sale. Maybe it's the magic tree air freshener?

It's the fit, as mentioned above. They look all wrong around the indicator and at the meeting with the 'a' pillar. Plus, a good paint job costs 2 grand. A pair of MB wings costs £450. Pattern wings maybe £200. So it is either spoiling the job for a ha'peth o'tar or it is a crap job: either way, irritating. Anyway, the genuine ones are not that prone to rust. Most are over 20 years old now.

I am finding myself obsessed with this green coupé: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-MERCEDES-BENZ-E-CLA...

This is what I can see that puts me off.
- old phone aerial in the rear screen
- Diavia air con system
- cracked piping on centre armrest
- model designation in wrong place
- crack in black plastic boot handle (do this and the previous item indicate a bad paint job?)
- er, er, that's it...

But cast your steely glaze over it V12 AMG and tell me what I am missing. And I like the colours, OK?

I'm in love ! Does it really get much better than a green/tan colour combo ?

Winter pocket rocket barge. Seems like a lot of car for the money.

That's really nice. These early A4s were genuinely good quality cars and true to Audi's build quality (at least in my family experience).

A nice colour, leather, 4wd, and a six cylinder engine for very little money indeed - and it looks like it's in great condition from the photos. A great find.

I've been lusting over that for a week or so. A similar one on an 'S' plate went for £1450 about a month ago, so this is still a grand over priced I reckon.

Still tempted mind.
I think this is one that should be decided on a call to the current owner - as R129 says above, it's a lovely looking thing. I have also looked at it for a week or so...

Needs a few more options to be perfect (no parking sensors, heated seats, rear blind etc etc.). And I'm not massively keen on the dash top colour either. Nexen tyres and part service history don't scream 'no expense spared'.

On the flip side the bodywork looks immaculate and, well, its just lovely.

If only it had ambers.

Could I reamber it and apply a private plate?

I think the position of the MB star changed which would give it away frown

I'm a major merc fan - but my 500SL suffers from too much weight and flab, not a lack of power. Making it heavier and giving it more power doesn't seem like a good idea to me!

"If we remove the centre box you might get an extra 10bhp".

I pick the 500SL up on Wednesday with the new exhaust...

Must be a scam ad, surely http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

The bottom of the doors do look like a slightly different shade to the rest of the car though! 111k miles, £2,595 of modern looking V8 Jag (according to the ad)

There are issues with the paint that would drive me nuts on that. Look at the side on shot of the left hand side, the doors are a very different shade to the wing and rear quarter. It's no money for a V8 wafter though!

As a non merc aside from the flow of the thread, E65ross has now raised more than the thread top end value by a long way: https://www.justgiving.com/Ross-Fripp

Amazing!

It's probably overpriced! Ok, mine was a less desirable 535 but the bodywork was in just as nice condition, second owner (since two years old), recent trans rebuild, Michelins, arguably a nicer colour combo. £1000.

It's easy to forget just how hard to shift these petrol barges are.

'Part' service history and history of similar cars going for a lot less probably.

Also, I must admit this particular ad pings several pet hates of mine all at the same time.

- 'Final reduction!'
- 'No offers!'
- 'First to see will buy!'
- 'If it doesn't sell I'll keep it!'

He's also not done himself any favours by wrongly listing the VED as £505

Gorgeous.
It is, and I don't remember us having a 123 for ages. That is adorable and looks super minty. If it has been a six cylinder I would have bought it five minutes ago.
