Congratulations. Looks like a great spec car.
Did you HPI it? What's the deal with the gap between the NSR light and the bootlid?
Yes, HPI came back clear.Did you HPI it? What's the deal with the gap between the NSR light and the bootlid?
I suspect the boot wasn't properly closed when they took that photo. I took some photos when I was there and the gap is as you'd expect it to be on both sides.

A LWB Sovereign with a tow bar, whatever next?
Pre-facelift, and pity about the colour, but an E500.

Is this a post-facelift? Likely to be rust and problem free?
A 4-cyl with the devil's fuel; would it really be that bad an ownership proposition?

It is post mini-facelift (Euro IV engine) but pre-major facelift which brought a sharper V shape to the front bumper and pivoting (rather than folding) door mirrors. I ran a 55 plate just like that for a year and 12k miles from new without issue. It will only have 150bhp, but once wound up is OK for motorway work. (ETA- I've yet to see any rusty 211 that didn't have obvious crash damage)A 4-cyl with the devil's fuel; would it really be that bad an ownership proposition?

It's already in budget but this is a "piss-take", isn't it? How much?! Are these really worth this now in this state? You could buy them, in good nick, for 50-quid when I started driving in the early-80s:

Check the postscripts where he says:
"I've noticed in the main photo you can't really see there is a dent in the passenger door, so I have added some more photos"
Well, if it hadn't been for that dent, I would have been all over that!
Then:
"Fir [sic]some reason the dent seems to have gone? And I also forgot to mention that I have the key"
Right! In that case, I'm back in!

Never mind the cheap no name tyres.
Another fast Volvo; I rather like the look of it. Anything to be aware of? (Aside from the fact that it's not a 124, obvs.)

I would want to have sounded out the seller on the phone as the pictures are not exactly great - they must have some with the roof off (demonstrating that it works at least!). Personally for me I am not a big fan of silver on the SL for some reason, I think darker or more interesting colours work best, but that's personal preference. I can't really judge the bodywork on this screen, but having seen a car that looked fine in pictures which turned out to be rusty as anything in the metal, that doesn't mean anything.
The usual advice to look for work done on suspension applies. Check the air con and exhaust - ensure these work or build this into the price you pay, and the hood. Mine needs an A/C compressor and an exhaust - the exhaust is going to come out at about £700/800 and it has proved more of a pain to source than I thought, so I am having one fabricated (still, I rang the guys today and they hadn't started after weeks after needing a specific bit!!!!). This was fine as I was aware of both before the purchase.
Good luck, they are great cars and I love mine.

600 SEC up for auction with 78k miles on it (according to the pictures). http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C651702
Estimate £2.5-2.8k if this means anything. Why do so many of these seem to end up going through auction?

I know this isn't a premium brand, and I know it is not in the UK but bear with me.
How about this? A 2003 Ford Fairmont Ghia from Australia.
"A what!" I hear you all cry in unison "How dare you post a Ford in here!"
"It is white, and looks dull!" you all continue.
However:
Yes, a 5.4 litre V8 - 295 bhp (it is an American engine remember) and 470Nm of torque. Apparently good for 0 to 60 in low 7 seconds, with lots of tyre squeal thanks to no LSD.
It's a Ghia, so will be nice and wafty, and for only $6,890 (so just under 3,500 quid) it is a bargain (in Aus terms). Only done 123k kms too.
Ad here, in case you want to know more

I really like those and the commy. There are actually quite a few falcons here, but they are all hearses/funeral cars! How about this? A 2003 Ford Fairmont Ghia from Australia.

Shame you can't get a RWD barge without a poncy badge here. I blame the Scorpio.
