OEM rubber mats. Very rare. Don't look brand new as described but they always clean up as new. They are almost indestructible.

Personally I think the standard ribbed Merc mats are plenty tough enough and clean up well.

I have used SVS for non-rubber mats twice, once for my W124 3 years ago, and a few weeks back for the r129. The ribbed mats seem very tough indeed - order them in a dark colour and I would imagine they would be fine.

Rubbish website, but give them a call for great service - http://www.specialvehicle.co.uk/index.php - I spoke to the same chap a few weeks ago who remembered me from 3 years back!

On another note: nasty wheel arch covers meaning rust. But it's a 560 SEL for under £2.5k (with an ONO for good measure). The daddy of w126s. De chrome arch it and smoke about without a care (then take it to R129's "The Man" and make it perfect).

It has heated reclining rear seats. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C641851#

Thanks for all the comments so far. I did consider the Outback but the interior is pretty nasty. It's on the 'maybe' list, but I'd prefer a Volvo or MB really.
They're comfortable and hard wearing. Soft touch delights they certainly don't offer but they really are an example of function over form offering real longevity and satisfaction. A bit like old Mercedes wink.

Agreed, they're not very luxurious, but comfortable, functional and very hard wearing.

I'd love a 560SEL one day!! But don't the back wheels look too far forward in the arches? I'm sure an expert will be along to correct me soon, but it look's a bit odd to me...

It made £1500 on eBay recently so either the vendor or buyer didn't proceed. Location probably putting folk off?

That front bumper is a completely different colour to the car and it looks like the rear may be the same colour. Bit odd to replace both in the wrong colour unless it suffered some kind of crash damage? You'd definitely want that up on a ramp somewhere.

Both the front wings are going rusty in the Ebay pictures.

You wouldn't be thrilled if that turned up at a port and hadn't been mentioned.

Pic 12 on the eBay ad is brutal, that indent on the panel is gone and it's just a vertical hole. Exhaust rusty too. Being by the sea hasn't been good for it.

Jeez that interior is awful.
Why stop at the interior? The whole thing is horrible.

I doubt it it does bargy wafting either. Some wet weather sideways inconvenience perhaps smile

Anybody know much about these E280 diesel mercs. Seem this locally but surely Avantgarde wouldn't have come with cloth seats.

http://www.davidbrowncars.co.uk/mercedes-e280-cdi-...

For less than £4-5k, am I going to find anything else better with a star on the front for family duties.

That's the standard Avantgarde material, but you do't see many without the full leathe upgrade

Any thoughts?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-MERCEDES-SL500-AUTO-SILVER-CONVERTIBLE-/131583671075?hash=item1ea2ff7b23

Any thoughts other than the dodgy wheels, missing distributor covers and aftermarket stereo?
All you need to know here....

Well I've bought a barge!
Used the info on here coupled with some ebay pricing to return things to normal and replace missing items and we bargained a very good price.
Pick it up Saturday.
Looking around it it was very clean with only a few things needing to be put right. Main one is soft top windows are shot but the hood itself is immaculate.
The hood cover has had a repair at some point and looks a bit tatty but thats pretty easy to put right.
Body was immaculate. Its clearly had a respray at some point (no way it could be that good after 22 years) but ts been done very well with no signs overspray or poor masking.
Service history was almost complete with only a couple of stamps missing and lots of additional receipts as well. Was in the same family for most of its life as well so thats a nice thing.
Those wheels have to go. No question. Only think is Mrs LK likes them so may have a battle on my hands. Hopefully I can use the 'they put the insurance up too much' argument....

Dead chuffed with it. Seems a bargain for what I paid.

Congrats on the new purchase. The wheels look like brabus reps (the style was most commonly fitted to the brabus version of the vito).

That does look pretty nice, think I would prefer to go via a dealer then again if the car is ok then probably a waste of money (would make it easier to move the diesel accord estate on). I assume post 2003 should be ok for worm and the gearbox/rad issue is ok or does it need checking,

May need to do some homework!
