95% Lexus Service history and 2 services by an independent specialists
Wow - Is that 38 services at Lexus then It does look good though. Other than the wheels. I mean, who would do that!

Just can't shake the feeling though... that leaving £1200 of (awful) wheels on smacks of needing to dump the car quickly.
Might ask if he will sell without the wheels for £1200 less...
In reality, £1200 worth of wheels/tyres is probably an ebay special £650, non?Might ask if he will sell without the wheels for £1200 less...
Lets say he needed a full set of tyres anyway and a refurb for the original set. Same money.

Thanks! That's really helpful.
We're in Battersea and I make a fortnightly trip out to Bracknell for work, plus the occasional weekend trip down to Guildford or wherever. So I'd be very happy to show you the 1M sometime. The next few weeks are a bit frantic, with various family stuff and out of town work commitments, but come October everything will settle down a bit. Let's sort something out then, if that works?
Glad to help in a small way. I'm betwixt those two locations, so anytime that works would be lovelyWe're in Battersea and I make a fortnightly trip out to Bracknell for work, plus the occasional weekend trip down to Guildford or wherever. Wheels need to be Ebayed. It won't ride, which is altogether the point of an LS. As replacements, I reckon the DHP's (like these) look the most favourable: they fill the arches a little nicer than the stock items.
Will be wheeling mine out soon for winter. Pillowy heated seats and a seemingly complete unwillingness to corrode are the obvious plus points over using the XJ6. I'm convinced the 'shell is made of high grade plastic.

£4,895 2009 S211 E280 CDI - 5 seats, I would be off to view this one I think if it was a 7.
It's cheap, but done a few miles, being sold by a dismantler and has some cosmetic failings.

Comical ad this one (Merc CL600 for £4650 on Auto Trader): http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Here's the ENTIRE text of the ad:
" luxury " high quality car for a low price., 2 owners, Next MOT due 01/10/2015, 4 seats, BLUE, £4,650
The quote marks around the word 'luxury' are the sellers, not mine

Boot sensor fault is most likely a SAM failure.
Replica wheels always set off alarm bells.
OM642 and 7G gearbox with 180,000 miles on them...ummmm, no thanks.

I agree that particular car might not be worth a look, but is 180k in a relatively short time something to worry about? Genuine question - I know little of modern MercedesEDIT: And I have a vested interest as the S211 is one of the cars on my radar (post 2006)

A quick question for the Barge cognoscenti...
Given how many of you are running multiple cars, have you found an insurer who will happily mirror no claims discount?
I currently have a 210 and 140 with separate insurers, however, the 210 policy has the NCB as the 140 was only bought a couple of months ago so has zero NCB.Given how many of you are running multiple cars, have you found an insurer who will happily mirror no claims discount?
Chris Knott Insurance sorted the 140 and say when my 210 comes up for renewal in Jan (currently with 1st Central), they will sort me out a policy for both. I'll have to compare prices when the time comes but if they are competitive I may well go down that route.

I'm not a fan of the engine at all. Especially when the I6 this replaced was an absolute peach.
We only have 2 vehicles in our fleet with this engine and box combo and both have been a nightmare.
The cost of replacing the SBC pump in an early W211 is tiny compared to the potential bills the OM642 can create.
Just off the top of my head : Timing chain tensioner, balancer shaft, Turbo inlet seal, port shutoff motor, EGR Valve, Various sensors, DPF blockages, Injectors, Turbo, plastic water pipes crack, oil cooler, consumes glow plugs and air filters like no other, MAFs (must be replaced as part of the complete inlet pipe, replacing just the sensor is not an option.
MB did a big update to the engine in 2010. Technical documents i've seen indicate that most of the common issues have now been addressed. I have no idea why it took them 5 years to revise many of the OM642 issues.

Thanks V12 AMG
Maybe I should just open up my search to the pre '06 S211 then.
The E60 530i is growing on me, petrol variants of the s211 seem thin on the ground. The offerings from Audi just bore me TBH. Maybe I should just give up looking at relatively modern stuff
Chaps, did anyone buy one of these Kienzle MCR-1016BT mech-free stereos? Can it be reset to English?
What with getting Amazon Prime Music for free now I've decided to ditch discs.
