It is an E500 Elegance which when purchased had virtually all the options ticked, so has the AMG bodykit, wheels etc. It is a better car than the one I missed the week before.
As part of the sale, they are updating the phone prep (still has the original Nokia handset in the centre console), sorting out a small rust bubble in the N/S rear wheel arch, new MoT, service, putting my private plate on, adding six months tax and removing the AMG badge too.
Should be a reasonable car for long distance trips, leaving the Nissan Leaf for the shorter hop to my office and back.
Insurance is only £300, so clearly some advantages to being in my late 30's now.

Managed <10 mpg on the way home.
Strange that it came with four keys. All the work had been done by the dealer, though he did try to charge me for the Bluetooth prep, a quick scan of the sales order sorted that one.

A bit random, but when my car came back from it's service today I noticed that the service booklet was now full. What are other bargers doing at this point? Start another book, or just keep the paperwork?
I've rung the dealers for continuation books on both my 01 W210 and 99 XJ8. Neither available anymore and no generic books available. As suggested, ebay or a scrapper may be the best option. And always keep ALL paperwork!

God! Talk about plagiarism!
Read the first paragraph of this advert:

Then read the first paragraph of a car on my website that I sold a few months ago:

The only thing is that Andrew DOESN'T say that about the 520i!

Spotted this today for anyone considering a w8 still
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-W8-4-Motion-/1...
Best colour, original wheels, hearse tints, Recaro front and by the looks of it rear seats, more modern nav etc fitted.
Wheels look like the need a refurb (they nearly always do on these!) And the headlights need attacking with a refurb kit as they've milked over badly. It's in Scotland.

Really like that.I imagine decent manual boxes are in quite high-demand on these though?

You'd be surprised a what you can get. Breakers like 'neobros' have all kinds of spares in plentiful supply - whatever isn't on their website you can usually just call or email and they'll have it, and cheap too. I imagine decent manual boxes are in quite high-demand on these though?
Lots of them die a death due to being uneconomical to repair rather than generally crap so there's a load of them scrap and lots of spares I've found

Happened to me when I put my 750 up for sale last year. It all kicked off when his car got featured as SOTW and I pointed out that he'd copied my ad pretty much verbatim. I did get an a half-hearted apology but it still irked me.Read the first paragraph of this advert:

I have to hold my hand up here, I've sometimes used pics from the seller advert of my car when I've come to sell the car in the future. Some people are just better at taking pics! After upsetting Birds doing this once (bought a 335i and sold it a year later) I now ask for permission! Birds were fine once they realised I'd purchased the car from them but it was an awkward conversation with Jason.

Inspired by your gleaming wheel arches, I ripped off the plastic liners and got to work. Unfortunately the poor mercedes didn't stand a chance against the mighty Karcher. Once the structural binding agent (I.e mud and dog st) was removed, I was left sweeping its crusty remains into a bin liner. http://www.bmwclassics.co.uk/e34_525_saloon_calyps...

A good day yesterday.
After 18 months of casual perusal and soul searching, yesterday I pulled the trigger and bought a Mercedes 190e. It's absolutely beautiful. It looks to be a really nice example, including air conditioning and leather. It's Malachite too, which is a lovely colour.
You can see why Bruno Sacco was so proud of it, it's literally gorgeous from every angle. Last night I must have just stood and looked at it for 15 minutes - noticing things I'd never really seen before.
Anyway, pics when I get around to it. There are a few things to sort over the next few weeks, but I'm really looking forward to it.

Damn!
That nasty mastic underseal lifts off leaving the metal underneath to fester away unnoticed. It's salvageable - the rear subframe mounts, perches, fronts subframe etc are ok but there are many holes to the inner wings and a nasty hole to each side of the boot floor. Pretty ugly. I've got to decide whether I'm prepared to put the effort and money into getting it fixed properly or cut my losses. Should have kept my E39.
