Looks like it'd clean up well. Lovely colour.
Very nice. If that had cruise I'd be bidding, and take a risk on 'just needs re-gassing'.

You could retro-fit the cruise you know- I've had it done on my w124 with the original type stalk...

Sorry, that wasn't specifically aimed at you. I do get the feeling E60s are unloved compared to the E39.
No problem, I didn't take it that way (I'd have added a smiley if I knew how).

ears Is it an involved job? I presume it's not fly-by-wire so you'd need servos and hoses, etc?

It's Malachite too, which is a lovely colour.

You can see why Bruno Sacco was so proud of it, it's literally gorgeous from every angle. Last night I must have just stood and looked at it for 15 minutes - noticing things I'd never really seen before.
Congratulations!
Thanks very much.

I've started a thread to detail progress, but here's a snap from the advert and one of me seeing it for the first time.

Looks great. Such a good looking car and so involving to drive. They really take the best of modern and old with none of the worst, don't they?
Congratulations from me too. Very similar to mine, and everyone knows that malachite is the fastest MB colour. Fact. Maybe.

In terms of the wider 'aircon just needs a re-gas' line, the Aircon specialist I was chatting to on Friday suggested that it can often be the case, especially for cars that are rarely used. He reckons that many older cars need an annual refresh and that we shoulod see it as a routine job, especially as it's so cheap. I asked about the gas having to leak from somewhere, but ageing seals and washers can apparently let it out without necessarily being fully compromised. Anyway, a re-gas might be worth it regardless, especially if (like Kwik-fit do I think) you're then not charged if it doesn't work.

Couple of big supercharged AMG mercs for around thread budget. I'm tempted to call about the CL55 and would be more tempted by the S55 if it had black leather.

I like the CL55, what a wonderful way to travel. I'd be terrified of it going wrong though.

Looking at the CL55 again i'm not sure if it is supercharged or not, AT thinks it is and lists power at 500 bhp, on eBay (when it didn't reach reserve) it shows 367 bhp suggesting an earlier N/A engine. I note it does not have the V8 Kompressor badges on the front wings. Anyone know a definitive way to confirm either way?

It's registered with 360hp, someone's just stuck the kompressor badges on.

Someone else has just told me 2 pipes = N/A, 4 pipes = S/C.

Also 2003+ was the supercharged.

The cheapest SC CL55 I've seen is ~£7k, and I would be scared to buy it!

My SL55 and E55 (both of which only came with the SC engines) were not cheap to run by any means, and they were mechanically in good condition - E55 from main dealer and SL55 was inspected by an AMG specialist.

Get a good specialist inspection - they're cheap to buy but ruinous to repair.

ETA - yep, 2 single pipes for non-SC and 2 x double pipes for SC.

Also - the engine bay is very different looking between the two so you can't miss it.

Oh - one is 'quite quick'... the supercharged version however, will make itself known - it's fking fast.

He's probably after a 520i, I hear they're regarded as the best E34 choice wink

Liking that S55.

Is there a consensus on 55K vs 600 Bi-Turbo?

Oh my.

The E34 525 is a lovely, lovely thing.

I am somewhat tempted, despite me not needing this kind of car at the moment.

If the claims made in the ad are correct (I have no idea otherwise!) then it's not an expensive car at all.

Lovely.

Nothing for sale, just a few photos of Audi V8's I've spotted in the wild over the last 12 months.

Can anyone guess the location of the second photo?

It was 7 years ago so don't remember too much about it. Don't think it was too much of a faff to be honest...
