It's a single-carb Essex with a few mods to give 170bhp at the wheels, BGH-modded four-speed box, LSD etc but it still weighs quite a lot, so I have a plan to chuck some more of it away.
Replacing the boat anchor with something lighter and more powerful is surely the way to go? smile

There have been a few converted using the 260+bhp 1UZ

Adding 2 cylinders and 2 litres with a Windsor would come with no real weight penalty, and there are lots of other options, too, but any change of block would push me out of Mod Prod and into Sports Libre - a nice 300bhp/300 lb/ft forced induction Essex would be good, though.

My toy is a modified 1987 MR2.
I have pics of sundry components taken over the years, and various work done, and some track video, but none of the exterior frown

The other weekend toy is not mine, but I help work on it, and tell the driver where to go (the navigator is in charge - the driver just does what he's told, as fast as possible smile)

1967 FIAT 1500 (Twincam : rare, but allowed because we have evidence of period use).

This car was first rallied in 1974; although it has been re-engined and re-shelled since then, one or two parts date back to it's first event.

Two men with moustaches on a transport stage a long way from anywhere:

Broken rear spring? Only 700 km to go :

Funny how some people's definitions of old are different to others...

Personally, to me anything since 1990 is fairly new..

I'll bet that neither look quite the same now as they did in the 80s when that photo was taken....

Dragging this thread away from blondes and minis....

My oldest current toy, (1979 Scimitar) started off looking like this but had some underlying issues...

And is now in two halves..

Its taken ages but is now slowly going back together.

My mid eighties toy (BMW 528i), its scruffy but actually useable unlike the Scim.

And if those two don't keep me busy enough Mrs Interloper has bought herself a P38 Range Rover, so far its not needed too much attention!

Although it's currently part-dismantled, because of this minor ailment ...
