2006 golf GT Tsi - the daily
2002 Noble M12 GTO - Useable hoon car that she also drives time from time
2003 Ultima GTR - For when it's dry and you need to hear the sound of a V8

My perfect 3 car garage would be:

Range Rover (5.0 Supercharged petrol) - daily.

Ford Fiesta - shopping chariot for ding collecting.

And something agreeable for when the Rangie or the Fiesta just won't do (there's always that scenario).

Thanks, the build quality is really superb, one of the only cars I've been in that seems to get quieter the faster you go...

Our 3 car combo works for us.

Battered Berlingo diesel MPV. Cheap and comfortable daily.
MG TF. Topless summer fun and B road hoonage when the mood takes.
XJ V8. Long distance drives and weekends away.

Sub ten grand the lot smile

Without getting ridiculous this time.

Daily: Mercedes CLS (W219). Probably a diesel and automatic version (320 CDI pictured).

Shop nipper: Renault Clio Trophy 182 (or an earlier 172).

Toy: Lotus Elise 190.

Close, but not quite,

I've got a CLS for the daily hack. Wife has a Civic for shopping and carting the kids around (It replaced her RX8). Plus an Ultima GTR for the weekend toy.

Something like this Exige V6 Cup for zooming about in and track days

Very much looking forward to the forthcoming Tesla version of the Exige cloud9
So, that, a BMW i3 and any Tesla Model S and I'd be an extraordinarily happy greenwash victim laugh

I have an X-Trail and a 986S, if money were no object I think a Disco 4 & a GT3 would do the job even more enjoyably

A car that each offers different things to the others is key.

I've currently got the M5 and a Clio Trophy. Might consider a third car in the form of Boxster S/Z4M at some point as well to get the topless motoring base covered too.

I know, I know...

But since I bought a new car, I can't help but brag about my perfect 3 cars garage!! (sorry about that... biggrin)

Well, the new one first:

Porsche 911 Carrera, coupe, manual

Audi S4 Avant, automatic, 4.2 V8, quattro

The two black/black daily drivers together

Volvo 1800 S, just the perfect classic car for me and of great sentimental value to me!

There are all bases covered, I'd say. From a sunny sunday morning blast (911 or Volvo), european city trips (Audi or 911) to ski holiday (Audi) and classic car meets (Volvo) and just about every other opportunity!
The only thing missing is a small shopping car... Oh I should have kept the Lupo GTI... frown That was a great car too...

I'm contemplating rearranging my cars to achieve something like this, I'm currently a bit overstocked with Peugeot GTi's, ideally I'd like to end up with my 205 (modern classic) 986 S (everyone needs rwd and six cylinders once a week) and in addition to this I'd like to add an XJ8 as a nice rainy day car.

What will probably happen is that I'll buy an XJ8 and not sell my 106 or 306 though. It's just all of the road tax that frightens me!

Had my three outside together briefly earlier, so took a photo:

The fleet by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

Given a bigger budget it would still look similar, just different cars:
  • Lightweight mid-engined sports car
  • Fun daily
  • Cute shopping car for the wife

A revision.

BMW 130 with some mods - daily
Atom- track days to reset your head
Griffith - for cruising to the pub on a Sunday afternoon
