I find Lidl to be better quality at similar or even lesser prices. Also their clientele don't smell.

Not for me, however I can see the attraction for people needing 7 seats.

I would prefer the 'normal' Disco

The interior is okay for the place the car occupies in the range. But it doesn't match the exterior promise at all. Really silly mistake, because Audi sell a lot of cars by the look and feel of their interiors. A lot of people will still buy a Q3/Q5 because of this I think.
I found Q5 interior horrible, really very basic. Though I found a 2014 freelander even worse, like sitting in a van. I'll be interested to see what this DS interior feels like. Evoque was pretty mediocre inside, better than any of the Q3/Q5 options though.

My girlfriend still wants an evoque, doesn't like the photos of the DS much at all... so I guess the image conscious buyers who like fashion products & 'cute' stuff will continue to get the evoque regardless of this.

They've got to be careful to keep the separation otherwise people for whom the price is unimportant will be happy buying cheaper models.

Wife runs a ford Smax and about 4 times a year we need 6 or 7 seats (Saturday gone an airport run.)

Except that, similarly equipped, a DS is the same price as an Evoque...

I find the price hike of at least €10k over the Freelander 2 hard to stomach when, despite LR's constant attempts to claim otherwise, it is essentially a replacement for the Freelander (as the interior so clearly proves)

I meant that (some) people will buy DS rather than a RRS, or even a FFRR.

I can't imagine very many people struggling to decide between Evoque and DS - Evoque is much less practical inside.

So, if you hurry, you can get a brand new vehicle - with an interior that isn't up to the standards of Volvo, Audi, or BMW; a dodgy old JLR touchscreen c/w ste satnav; and an old 4-pot diesel that the Flintstones first used back in the 1960s.

Where do I sign...?

The styling isn't doing it for me, it's just very bland and characterless. Quite slab sided too, has no real presence.

I'm disappointed that its not a little more useable for actual sports! I'm not surprised though. My car interior is covered in mud from the weekends sports and travelling back from rugby with three players covered in mud. I really wouldn't want to find out how this interior would stand up to that on regular basis.

I do like the look, it probably is enough 4x4, it just needs to be a little more discovery and a little less pansy.

What 7 seater has a big boot with the 3rd row up? The much bigger Q7/Disco etc or even the SMAX have no boot with them up!
The answer to your question is the GL.

But it's in another magnitude concerning size and price.

Personally I think it looks great. Inside and out. Everything about it feels really chunky and solid. Modern interior with everything you'd expect.

I was really impressed with the handling. Did some quite aggressive manoeuvres in one and it behaved admirably. The completely new integral link rear suspension setup probably has something to do with that.

I'd have one, if I was after that sort of thing....

I would like a Jag XE S though!

I've sat and kicked the tyres of of a couple of them at gatherings but didn't realise they were at the dealers now for public test drives. Must get myself along to my local dealer then.

I don't think practicality has much to do with people buying Evoque's. That's exactly the point (as I said above): buy DS if you want practicality, buy Evoque if you want style.

Looks like a Ford.

Land Rover can keep it.

The Defender however... that's got my attention smile
