I have a 2007 599 GTB and its the first Ferrari (prior to 458, california DCT era Ferraris) I had driven that feels comfortable in day to day use. Very heavy on the fuel thought I struggle to get more than 150 miles out of a £120 tank of V power. The car will cruise sensibly and turn into a complete and utter monster if you want it too. It is a lovely place to be on the motorway, smooth and quiet but attracts a lot of attention. I regularly have people behind resting there phones on the steering wheel in the fast lane taking pictures!

They are also a good place to have your money currently, I think they are creeping up in value. I would definately recommend one!

F-Type R is within budget and would trump the C63 in most departments and doesn't look like a barried up rep-mobile smile
This was a bit of a wild card actually. Went out in one, noise is great, performance felt about the same as mine. My concern is it's a little bit small and....well...it's a jag....and I fancy something with more badge!

Thanks for this. The 599 I think is the car I really want but I am just convincing myself it's not the right option. I.e it's not being parked in a double garage on a private estate, needs to be used every day, worried about putting miles on it etc. Beast of a car though. MPG I'm fine with as can't be any worse than mine. Maybe I need to take one out...

911 turbo? You wouldn't be too tall for it... . Nissan GT-R, and I see someone's already mentioned the R8.

Surely you get more than 7.5 mpg from the C63?

Actually...good point raised by other... F- Type Coupe R. For me, hard to beat that in terms of looks.

GTR would also be an idea smile

MPG is definately worse than a C63 I have owned a fair few thirsty cars but this makes my old R8 V10 feel economical, I only keep my cars 3-6 months and move on to others so mine would be for sale at some point next year. Feel free to pop over the midlands and have a gander! I would say you would want to garage it more so to keep jealousy at bay. Mine is tucked away in my garage whenever its not being used! Red Ferraris can attract the wrong attention, This is coming from someone a couple of years younger than you! I am sure you will get jealous comments from people on here just saying your considering a 599! It is a fantastic car and brutally fast but its traction is similar to that of a C63. The back end can get very lairy even in sport mode yet alone race mode! Balls of steel would be needed for CST off on the UK roads!

Keep the C63. Take it to MSL Performance (Birmingham)

Get a Weistec supercharger fitted with long tube headers and a de-cat and/or IPE Valvetronic exhaust system.

Well over 700bhp there already. Other mods are readily available.

Oh, I have an old man's E63 but it's throwing out 710bhp so far. Not all us old men are the pipe and slipper brigade. I also have managed to acquire the use of the MSL courtesy car tomorrow, which is a very interesting C63 with over 800 horses on tap smile

Oooh good shout, F-Type R thumbup

Maybe not enough badge though? But come on, look at it!
Just as much badge as the Merc surely?

If you like your C63, but just want more, try and get a C63 Black Series. I've recently sold mine, so can't tempt you there, but it's an awesome car.
I tried a regular C63, and found it - well just OK, so I ordered one blindly (and on the advice of the likes of Chris Harris & Steve Sutcliffe!)
It just does everything asked of it - ignore all the comments about going through tanker full's of fuel and eating rear tyres. Yes - it likes a drink, but on run at sensible motorway speeds, it will do 22-23 mpg. (you'll also see 8mpg if you try hard smile )
Rear tyres will last 10K miles - or if you want, turn the TC off and it'll shred them in a few miles! Someone suggested a 599 - when I had both, if I was off for fun drive, I'd always reach for the MB key rather than the Ferrari! That's how good they are! (The 458 though is a different story - that makes the BS feel like a diesel!) I had some work last year in Germany, and did some serious high speed motoring on the autobahns. The acceleration even from 100 upwards was just addictive & linear! Saw in excess of 180 on more than one occasion - great for outrunning M3 &5's
Have a good look around, and you should be able to get one for the right money - I seemed to struggle to sell mine on SOR through a dealer, and looking at the current ones for sale out there I know the dealers have big margin in there compared to what they'd offered me at the time!
My new 991 is very nice, and all that, BUT it never quite hits the spot like the BS did!

I had been toying with looking into the CLK63 'Black' but have resisted for some reason.
My next door neighbour has one and it sounds awesome. Looks are a bit marmite though - his wife refuses to get in it. He's 6'6" so you'd be fine fitting in it.

Obviously depends who you are. The AMGs are quick, but as a brand I consider them reps cars, and more so than Jags.
That may be, but if you ask people which brand brings with it the most cachet it's MB everyday. Jags are a bit Arfur Daley.

Slightly above budget but worth it

For the budget I would suggest:

997.2 GT3
997.2 Turbo S
AMG GT
599
R8 V10

I'd probably take the GT3 as you won't lose on that purchase.
