The masterati is a great shout, badge, noise, looks but my business partner has one so a non starter!

Your right though about the dbs I didn't feel I could get the seat back far enough which would make the Manuel version in particular a little tedious!
I feel your pain my mate had his first but after having a CL63 (Epic car just not recognised as one) for a while I had to admit he'd made a great purchase I bought one one took it Nouvalari for some choice upgrades & never looked back I couldn't find anything else that fitted my needs so had to put up with some until the upgrades were done

Sorry for the delay pistonheaders! Some great comments here. Thanks very much. Thought I would answer/reply to a few comments in one go;

-I don't want to tune the C63 or anything for that matter. Bit socks down your underpants for me I think?

-Has anyone hear owned a V10 R8? I fancy something exotic which an Audi isn't really but the V10 is compelling in terms of usability, performance and looks.

-Gallardo is just not everyday usable I don't think. It'll be parked in a train station car park through the week!

-Should I be shot for considering a convertible 911S fairly new around a 13 plate circa £75-80k?

-Don't fancy a GTR as lacks any class

-What does rep car mean???

My shortlist is currently as follows in ascending order of price; 911S Convertible, F-Type R Coupe, Bentley SuperSports, Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari 599 GTB. Autotrader has options I would buy for each of these so keen to hear if anyone has owned any of these what comments they would give?
DBS out of those for me please

Mike, at 6'2" you will have zero problems fitting into a DBS.

Id go this route out of your list.

Or a 997.2 Turbo S. Biblical cars.

Oh, almost forgot. I'm 35 and 6'2".

I have a V10 R8 and have not problem fitting in, I'm 6'3. There's a lot of debate on these forums about whether the V10 version of the R8 is an exotic or not but to me it certainly feels a lot more special/exotic than my previous M cars or the AMG's I've driven. I've only had it a couple of months but it does get a lot of positive comments everywhere I stop.

It is very usable but I'm not sure if I'd want to use it as a daily driver, it is a wide and low car and does get a lot of attention. I have a cheap hatchback I use purely as a commuting hack and wouldn't really want to be doing the same journey in the R8 every day. Saying that I do regularly see one in my nearest train station car park but it's usually overshadowed by the F12 that someone else seems to use as a daily train station car!

There have been a few suggestions of 911 Turbo's, I have friends with 997's and 991's and they are blisteringly quick cars that you can use daily and don't stand out too much. Not the most charismatic of cars IMO though.

As in I'm too tall for anything like a Vantage and being young I can get away with it being a bit flash without looking a dick
I am 6'6" and drive a Vantage quite regularly, slightly limited on headroom so would not be a problem. A good bit slower than the C63 I would think.

How about a Lambo and a station snotter if your worried about parking it? Get something you don't give a crap about a half asleep commuter bashing. I wouldn't worry about a Lambo any more or less than most of the other recommendations day to day now Audi are in charge.

Yes, that's why I gave my combo of RR sport plus f430 spider.

I'd never run an exotic as my only car, would take all the fun out of it!

Though if he doesn't want 2 cars I really think the SL63 AMG wi be OPs best bet.

MPG is definately worse than a C63 I have owned a fair few thirsty cars but this makes my old R8 V10 feel economical, I only keep my cars 3-6 months and move on to others so mine would be for sale at some point next year. Feel free to pop over the midlands and have a gander! I would say you would want to garage it more so to keep jealousy at bay. Mine is tucked away in my garage whenever its not being used! Red Ferraris can attract the wrong attention, This is coming from someone a couple of years younger than you! I am sure you will get jealous comments from people on here just saying your considering a 599! It is a fantastic car and brutally fast but its traction is similar to that of a C63. The back end can get very lairy even in sport mode yet alone race mode! Balls of steel would be needed for CST off on the UK roads!
Your 599 got negative attention? I'm REALLY surprised by that. Maybe its the area? Or maybe you just look young? I like your car history choices by the way, some similar to mine (plus a tonne more I have often considered!). I think a 599 would blend in quite well here, certainly can't imagine negative attention so I'm surprised by your experience.

V12 Vantage? Different type of drama to the C63 but no less explosive at the top end. With the normal sports seats you'll fit in fine, but I think the lightweight seats take away some of the leg room. I sold my V8 to a 6'4" chap who fitted no problem.

I'm 6' and didn't have the seat all the way back. smile

I had the C63 and didn't like it apart from the noise. I moved onto a V10 M6 which I think has the 'premium' factor I was looking for.

Consider the new M6 or maybe a F10 M6? They'll make your C63 seem slow by comparison.

The 599 has not had negative attention.... yet. My old 360 spider in red did, not as bad as some peoples experiences. Heard of other ferrari owners being spat at with the roof down. I have just found my age and the cars I have had caused negative attention hence I stopped posting on here for the last few years.

The 599 is a more understated Ferrari but in Rosso Corsa it still stands out. Shes a big car its certainly a tight fit in my single garage! Had to have a remote shutter garage door as the standard garage door would not close with her in.

Back to the R8 V10 I would shy away from this, I owned a 60 plate manual spider for 10 months (along time for me to keep a car) I used it daily and maybe that why it never felt special enough. The interior just felt like any other Audi and I had a fair bit of niggly problem with it albeit all covered under audi warranty. It was in Audi Leicester for around 5 weeks of my ownership back for small sensor faults, power steering rack leaking, various whining noises. But it was VERY quick and the gated manual box was a joy to use. As a daily its a great car but it never felt as special as the Ferrari does when I open the garage and bring it out from under its cover. The cabin is just a fantastic place to sit and draws excitement in itself.

How can you not want one of these over an F type, great value now as mine cost the first owner £200k plus! Few pics to encourage you further:

That's one of the few Ferraris I like but I'd still take the F-Type, especially the black one above.

Love the 599, I'd probably get it in black, but still very nice in red. My neighbour has an F12 (mental thing that is) but I still think the 599 actually sounds better, and still so crazy fast - I remember flooring it for the first time on the M3, wow!!! If there was a targa version readily available I'd get one, just don't really have enough use for a fixed roof car.

And, without trying to be rude, it's probably more to do with the area you live than your age. It is usually considered bad taste to have car value / house value so out of balance to the norm! I get it and totally understand cutting back on house cost to get the car of your dreams, not that I would, but it's the sort of thing that makes people annoyed, a weird psychological thing. If you find your age causes bad attention online just don't mention it lol. PistonHeads is full of cynics anyway so you can't take it personally haha.

Anyway, keep on posting as it's always great to see opinions from someone who has driven these exciting models against each other.

Have you tried the 458 yet? If not get into one ASAP, I think you will agree with me in saying it is the best car ever! I'm just waiting for the spider to drop a bit more as can't have that sort of depreciation on a car I only use now and again.

As long as you don't live in a council house with a Ferrari on the drive I personally couldn't care less about the differential.
