RE: £100K Garage: Mark Williams
Discussion
"I doubt they will massively appreciate it but they knew what they were getting into when they paid for an advert."
I've not looked into it but does it state anywhere in the application for an advert that Pistonheads reserve the right to pass comment on the car you are advertising or your description of it?
If it does then fair play but if it doesn't then why would you think that they are getting no more than they deserve??
If I was paying money to a website to advertise something I would expect them to do just that and nothing more. I wouldn't be interested in their opinion of what I was selling and I wouldn't expect them to pass judgement on the way I was selling it unless I was doing something that breached their code of conduct or something illegal.
The article would have been no less funny if it had used fake adverts not real ones paid for by a customer

I understand that an advertiser wouldn't be best pleased but:I've not looked into it but does it state anywhere in the application for an advert that Pistonheads reserve the right to pass comment on the car you are advertising or your description of it?

1)Isn't that the price of independence
2)Do you think they really care?
3)Do you think they weren't aware of the PH ethos?
As I've already said, these dealerships will have a small amount set aside for advertising which will go to this, and other classifieds. They haven't chosen PH for its mantra of 'Speed Matters', most are diesel, and the fastest petrol takes over 10 seconds to 60!
They have chosen it for maximum exposure to a customer base who have already made their mind up and want a Vauxhall terrible. No sarcastic comments that only appeal to/wind up die-hard PHers will change their mind.
And let's not kid ourselves, PH is very open about its opinions. It would have to be a dealer who had a pathological hatred for cars not to know of/ care about this site. I wouldn't buy a car from there.

Again (assuming lay means pay) are you really celebrating the fact that advertisers could influence editorial content? I assume you read PH, and appreciate unbiased comments that don't paint CO2 emissions as the be-all-and-end-all?
I doubt they will massively appreciate it but they knew what they were getting into when they paid for an advert.
Did you enjoy your little moan?
Thanks, yes I meant pay. I wasn't moaning as it makes little difference to me. I merely openly wondered if hay markets customers would appreciate their products being mocked. Apologies if this came across as a moan, but please don't patronise me.I doubt they will massively appreciate it but they knew what they were getting into when they paid for an advert.

Haha brilliant, some truly non PH worthy cars there, don't think I've ever seen or even knew the Ford Ecosport existed. The name is a contradiction in terms and never the 2 should meet.
The marketing bods at Ford seemed to have also clocked this, and in a move that can only be described as sheer genius, decided that ecosport will be pronounced 'echo sport'.It really does stagger me that we're still using fossil fuels when minds as brilliant as this exist!

Sorry, reading my last comment, I came across as a patronising twit. Hands up, sorry there.I was taking umbrage at your comment, which seemed to be a disapproving comment for its own sake. I thought the fact the website put it up in the first place was decent, and just showed a sense of humour. I felt it went a bit against the PH way of life to invite unnecessary interference.
Blimey, this must be the season of good will if two previously-arguing people have just apologised to each other on the internet. Merry Christmas!
the list went over my head - no more unusual than any other list of mass produced goods.
Bland little people buy into lifestyle adverts then actually believe that the computer designed, robot built, pile of metal, plastic and rubber makes them seem interesting.
Looks like I am going to have to step up the the plate and do a £100k garage of cars you will not see in a Sunday supliment/Golf magazine/early evening sit com.
