Mk4 GTis have been advertised for strong money for a while now. I sold a 66k, 180 version last August for £3k after less than a week being advertised. There's a market for the them.
for who? everyone on here says how crap and lardy the mk4 was, with the focus generally being superior in every way. as boring as they look I rather liked the look of the GTI's:-/
VWs have a strong following.

Once a car gets to that age the nostalgia is a bigger factor than how well it drives

Sweet Jesus, that's lovely. That would save me £10k on what I was going to blow on the Astravan.

I spent a little while browsing Mk4 GT TDIs, most of the semi decent ones were relatively expensive. That one is going for stupid money.

Took me a while to find one, I much prefer the Mk4 to the Focus - looks, build quality. And I like the way it drives.

Is £10,000 the new £3,000 when it comes to selling old hatchbacks?

It wasn't that long ago that old sporty hatchbacks were cheap as chips, if you saw one up for £3k you knew it was a pretty minty example!

That Uno Turbo doesn't even benefit from the 'white room photo shoot' that typically allows you advertise sub-£3k cars for £10,000.

I saw a grey Uno Turbo go last year for £3500 which was just as clean and, probably more importantly, standard. I know its a very rare car but it seems people pull prices out of their arse when theirs is one of the only ones up for sale at that time or they feel like theirs has something the others on the market dont.

They are very tough cars and peanuts to run, we have one as a hack. It is bomb proof (PD TDi), quite nippy with a cheeky Revo remap too. It is the best feeling not caring where you park it etc. Compared the our other cars the suspension is so wonderfully comfy too. I have pondered selling a few times but wife won't let it happen.

When I sold my freshly MOT'd, full service history from new, Mitsubishi Starion Turbo a couple of years ago there were less than 20 showing as still on the road in the UK. I sold it for £1,500, and had to put up with several weeks worth of time wasters offering me half that- whilst trying to make out they were doing me a favour!

Given it's rarity and having complete history/documentation (including all original handbooks!) from new, that car would be Porsche 911 money in the eyes of some of these sellers! laugh

Brand new Toyota/Subaru GT86/BRZ cars are overpriced, they should be MX5 levels at £18-£22k

It's past the age where you would be buying it based on absolute performance.

always wanted one when I was a lad, and that looks like a reasonable example given it's age, however I think £10k is ambitious, and some of the wording looks a bit strange

Certainly asking a lot, but only 19k miles which is very low considering it's age.

Yes, but does that warrant £70,000 more than an average example?!

I'd like this car; I have one almost identical - mine's a 'tdi' with slightly higher mileage, but all the same toys and a good history (21 stamps in the service book).
I paid £250 for it two years ago.

But I'd prefer a petrol version, and I'd be willing to pay £1000 for this - which is more than I think it's worth.

Seller seems to think it's worth a little bit more eek

I used to own a Green D reg Mk1 Uno Turbo that I bought in 95 for £1300. I remember how gutted I felt when a few months later I was looking under the car, touched the seam of the sill and felt it crunch between my fingers. It had two different keys and I later noticed that the steering wheel was slightly bent where someone had attempted to break the steering lock.

Still the most fun car I ever owned, I often have a search on eBay for nostalgia reasons and saw this car as well.

My dream garage would contain a concours one of these.
