Tell me about it! In fairness it probably had more rust than that one linked above- even in 2008 the very best examples with sub-80k on the clock were going for £3k+ so it would have needed some work (E30s do like to rust).

I just never imagined £8.5k would represent the lower end of the market 8 years on! rotate

And completely agree on the 8-series too.

£24k for a 350z wearing a body that would be considered a little rough around the edges were it a 1:18 die-cast.

Might send him a message to ask why there's no shots with the roof down wink

I think with the way PH classifieds seperates some marques makes it easier to find overpriced stuff.

someone apparently bought this.. a £10k mk4 Golf GTi on 34k
here
Collectible and low mileage I guess.

That said, 3 years ago my neighbour sold his 50,000 mile minter (same spec, year and condition as the one in the ad) for £4,250 and had to fend off the innit bruv lot for weeks to get that.

Regarding the E30 325 prices, it looks like I simply should have kept my red, 2-door 318i- given that the cheapest one for sale on here currently is £4,995! That is just the standard 105bhp '318i' too, not the more desirable '318iS'!

I sold mine for about £500 rotate

It is still on the road though, albeit now showing as an orange 320...

This caught my eye for being hilariously expensive. White 5dr MK4 Golf TDi, £3990. Saw it on Autotrader and the advert has been up since May, wonder why?
Revel in the glorious non-recaro, cloth interior.

E30's are highly regarded for their light weight and RWD handling, they are popular in motorsport, rallying and drifting. Prices are only going to go up as they get rarer and rarer especially the 6 pots.

And they get lighter and lighter as the rust takes hold! wink I do wonder how clean many of those E30s currently being sold really are

That is true! Mine was a proper lightweight special by the time I sold it hehe

It's a risk that comes with the territory on an E30, but when I paid £800 for mine it wasn't an expensive risk. On a near 160,000 mile example at £8.5k which the advert admits isn't perfect however, it's a different matter altogether.

You literally couldn't give E30's away 10 years ago, who'd pay decent money for an old 3 series that was prone to rust? They even had massive image issues at a certain time too as they fell into the hands of undesirables.

However time has been kind to them. They are now old enough that undesirables no longer drive them so image is no longer an issue.

They've pretty much stopped making light, manual RWD N\A cars now so people who like that sort of thing have little choice but to go back to older cars.

They are relatively easy to work on and get parts for so great for doing track days, rallying etc for the amateur enthusiast.

The E30 M3 prices have gone ballistic, mostly due to magazine hype and investors. This invariably has the impact of pulling the prices of the models lower down the rung up with them.

But i also seem to remember when every e30 325i sport was 5k too!

Regards D.
no need to defend yourself imo, its one of the most overpriced examples in the entire thread.

But my point is that I don't believe it is all that overpriced in the current market, due to being LHD

Would I pay £100k for a CSL? Well no, and I really liked my one. However, can I see someone from the likes of Frankfurt paying €110k for it? Possibly yes

How about a (rather nice) W124 E320 estate for £19K?

The dearest Mercedes barging for a good while.

I bloody love that - but not for £19k... and it needs to be imported here (albeit included in the price).

Me too.

I suspect if it passes muster it will sell at strong money eventually. Maybe not £19K though.

Just wonder how many lovely cars are still over in Japan.

There are some nice cars over in Japan. I was looking at 190E's yesterday and there seems to be a fair few that have come over from there

Mk4 GTis have been advertised for strong money for a while now. I sold a 66k, 180 version last August for £3k after less than a week being advertised. There's a market for the them.

The bloke who bought my Wife's old GTi also had an Anniversary edition of the Mk4 which was a show car and a keeper for him. Despite the bad press, I still miss the car.
