Very. Not sure why they think red is rare. 31 of 194 GRY on AT today are red
I might be wrong but nearly £8k for a 2009 1 series seems a lot of money.

The Merc CLS I have mentioned locally, and am fascinated by, that has been on sale for 900 plus days, well it came down from £6250 to £5995 before Christmas, still didnt sell as its worth three grand, four at a push.
So, if it doesnt sell at those prices, what do you do, you drop it further to stimulate some interest, so has it had a big drop into the realms of being somewhat more sensibly priced ?
No, you stick it up to £6500 ! As if something hasnt sold in getting on for three years, its obviously not expensive enough !

I imagine the dealer bought it for a high price back when prices were super crazy and doesn't make a loss on it.So, if it doesnt sell at those prices, what do you do, you drop it further to stimulate some interest, so has it had a big drop into the realms of being somewhat more sensibly priced ?

I guess it depends on how big their forecourt is and how quickly they turn cars over but I'd have thought after 900 days, they're making a loss regardless where they could have had so many cars in the parking space making them money.
But many just see it as a black and white profit loss on that car and not think about the money they've lost the opportunity to make.
After that long, I'd be looking to break even, maybe even take a small loss if the space its parked in was at such a premium.
Every month it likely costs insurance etc too.
Granted its much smaller numbers but when I was in sales and dealt with buying and purchasing stock of much lower value items (3 figures) but for a big company that would hold 6 figures of stock at a time, after 6 months if a line had stopped selling we'd sell it as cheap as possible because we were desperate for the shelf space.
Very different industry to car, admittedly.

OK so it isn’t a car but ???
I’d agree that it’s hard to see anyone buying that but there is a few hundred in scrap and someone might want the Luton box for something else. Doesn’t therefore qualify as seriously overpriced. For reference, this is up for £3,999
Or you could treat yourself....

I thought this looked expensive.

And then I saw this one!

Are E46s really that sought-after?
When my manual E90 330i SE became a Cat N last year on 121K miles I couldn't get the third party insurers to value it any higher than £2,240, although it did mean I got to keep it for less than £500!
I've had a couple of E46s and E9*s and the latter feel like quite an improvement, plus they don't seem as prone to rust.

I think the e46 is at a stage now where the rotten bashed up ones are starting to get difficult making the good ones a bit more special than they would have been 5 years ago.
Even if you think of them as old and not one of the great BMWs you can't deny they have the ingredients / DNA of a likeable BMW with the classic RWD (option for manual gearbox) and the straight 6 engine.

I advertise a car, if no interest I drop the price until it goes, no point, if you want to sell it sitting on it for years like King Canute waiting for that one elusive buyer who will pay double what the market says its worth, its bizarre. I think once I am changing, thats it got to go if I want the next thing and I am aware I am not getting any younger and you never know what will happen in life.
Someone I know turned down a decent offer on their car, holding out for the asking price, then no further interest for six months and ended up selling a grand lower than the last offer, had to MOT it and spent a few quid, six months of VED, insurance and it sat round, there is always that chance you come to it and it needs a battery for £120, or a slate has fell off the roof and damaged the bonnet so you either claim or sort it yourself but either way its a liability. Person in question always wants stuff for nothing but is never prepared to give someone else a decent deal.

And then it’s just who really wants it … some people won’t be beaten, it’s like it’s a pride thing …
Some cars you can pick up for a steal if you’re mostly the only keen bidder …
