Hexagon for you. Purveyors of overpriced, average cars to Southern mugs for many years now.

Yes people want low mileage cars, and some think they are an investment.

I respect them only for the fact they can punt these cars at these prices with a straight face.

I guess they only need a very few sales to keep going. The stock they buy is probably acquired at 20% of the price they want to sell it for.

An importer near here recently advertised a R34 Skyline GTR for £70,000. Wasn't even a special variant!

It is quite rare

Facelift car
Six speed manual
And Sport Convertible with hardtop

A really really nice 330 sport cab is £6995 most are auto without hardtop and that would be for 70k plus miles.

It's how much you load up the value for sub 10k miles AND manual which is the one to have.

It's got to be £15k minimum? What would you value it at?

If it's too much you can save £2k and have this 325i instead - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Where do they find these cars? A 19 year old 540i with less than 10k on the clock - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

How about a 2008 Z4 M Coupe with 1,800 miles? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

I wouldn't pay more than £5k for it and that's really pushing it; probably more 3 or 4. It's a mass market model and 13 years old.

9,000 miles in 13 years isn't a positive for me. It's basically been sitting in a garage for its whole life.

Yes, it's an immaculate restoration, but it's a 1990 C2 Targa with an auto box which I'm pretty sure is fairly low in the list of desirable Porsche 911 models. To you sir, £80k, and we'll throw in a pair of dayglo socks.

Clearly it IS worth far more than £5k that is obvious and as for £3k that wouldn't buy you a facelift 330 cab manual anywhere and if it did it would horrible.

You asked me what I'd pay for it.

It may be worth more to other people but even £10k is laughable to me.

yes
Whilst it's easy to ridicule Hexagon, I wonder who would buy a cooking model 3 series and only drive it 700 miles a year? confused

Cars with tiny mileages are out there, I had a Porsche 924 with 6000 miles from new on it. It cost me a fortune to get it to a useable state, brakes had to be refurbed, new tyres, exhaust had started to rust from the inside out, rubber hoses perish and so on. It's not good for a car unless you want something to polish and look at

What I don't get is that a lot of these are cars to be used rather than 'fun cars' but not cheap cars so unlikely to be owned by an old lady who just goes to the shops once a week. My brother has a Polo which did 8k in its first 12 years and I can understand why you'd find a Porsche or Lotus with no miles on the clock, but a 5 series saloon doing 500 miles a year or a diesel 5er estate covering 250 miles a month seems mad and pretty unlikely.

With the 330ci above all I can think of is that someone was so rich that they sort of forgot they had it tucked away and were normally using their other cars. It's not like anyone would have bought such a car with the plan to try and keep it's value.

you'd polish and look at something desirable, those don't really fit the bill

also, it would seem like maybe it's owned by someone rich with several cars that just never used these to drive. but once sold on who would ever buy it? if you're rich enough you'll buy yourself a brand new car, not pay way too much for one of the older less-desirable models that have many on the market. even if it was someone who LOVED the e46 cabrio and came into a position to have lots of money and wear heavy tinted nostalgia glasses they would be able to buy a mint/concourse condition one for more then half the price of what hexagon has it for.

Do hexagon buy it and then sell on or could they be selling it for someone? If it's the latter it could be an old chap just being insistent that he paid £30k for it and never used it so that's what he wanted it sold at.

If it's the former then it's just ridiculous.

My wife's Grandmother has a Mitsubishi something or other that's over 10 years old and I don't think she's hit 5k on it yet. My inlaws do a tiny annual mileage as well these days, so I'd think there are a lot more cars out there with low miles than you'd think. I sold my 924 as you can't really drive it with miles that low

This is on the front page of Car and Classic website, so you don't even have to look hard to find them.

www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C763596

31000 miles from new, so around 650 miles a year.

I'm not saying it's overpriced or on the money as I know nothing about P6 values, it's just an example biggrin
