Seriously Overpriced Cars

I'm a huge Japanese car fan but I've never, ever got why these are always priced so.

There was a great looking OEM+ (think standard looking, nice wheels and zorst) on the bay for 9k a little while ago. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-Nissan-Silvia-S15-T...
That thing looks butchered. A genuine non molested one will go for that easily, not that though..

sadly - a case of 'find me another one'
never going to be a drivers car, and destined for a museum.
The problem with this kind of buy is that the car is not rare, but the condition is. Thus, it can never be driven without destroying value.sadly - a case of 'find me another one'

I've expected this. Anything sporty, Italian and petrol is effected by the Ferrari classic rocketed prices..rare colour though. But you can get one for 4k.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Am I totally out of step with the pricing of old Porkers? I know that some of the older 911s are commanding good money but that is damned steep?

Someone on my Facebook list is trying to buy this with a long finance deal. I feel it's overpriced, and he'd end up in negative equity after a few years.

Whilst it might look quite nice, I did warn him that he would be paying £14k for what is effectively a 9 year old, 70k miles diesel hatch with a fancy body kit. Looks like the company have several on their page, looks like a cheap way for them to make money.
I even found cars with the exact spec he wants between £4k and £6k.
I think he believes I was just being jealous and doubt he'll listen at all.

Would someone really pay £8k extra for an S3 bodykit on a 2.0 TDi?

I didn't search too far, but the 07 plate BMW 325i SE (with aerokit) for 12495 caught my eye. I bought my BMW 325i SE of similar age with less than half that mileage for 7995 a couple of months back and felt I'd paid top dollar. Seeing that one cheers me up!

Interesting business model. It looks great (even has some big front brakes) and to people who like these things it does look every bit an expensive car at an affordable price, so they don't see the comparison with the standard car at half the money since it doesn't come as close to the dream as the RS3 rep. It'll definitely lose a lot of cash over a few years though.http://www.acmotorsonline.co.uk/cars-for-sale/audi...

Ladies and Gents, I give you the 10K Rover 75
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C590897
"There is no battery in it so I couldn't verify the mileage, but the owner says it is definitely between 150 and 200 miles" oh, ok then.
And I especially like this line from the advert:http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C590897
"There is no battery in it so I couldn't verify the mileage, but the owner says it is definitely between 150 and 200 miles" oh, ok then.
"It was first registered on 30/07/2002. The late owner bought it on 11/11/2005 from SMG Rover Bristol - he is the only registered keeper."

Even aside from the price being more than 3 times what it should, buying a 9 year old car on a long finance deal is mental in itself.http://www.acmotorsonline.co.uk/cars-for-sale/audi...
