And possibly the worst one...the £450k group 4/b quattro that sold for £220K at the goodwood members meeting earlier in the year (as far as i can see has no works history as a group b car either)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
A history of Works Rally Car, then Rally Team R&D Platform, then Group B Rally Car, then converted for a number of years being used in Rally Cross, and then a handful of decades "somewhere" before re-emerging and being worth a fortune???

Dictionary definition of Triggers Broom. There cannot be a single piece of bodywork or componentry that is original on the car from the day it first left the factory, nor is it possible for it to be at the correct spec for any of it's evolution iterations.

yep, seems a good betthumbup
It's amazing how that business works. Those guys must be laughing all the way to the bank. You could buy any car from there and probably struggle to sell it for even half the price on the private market!
Without reading through the whole thread to see if anyone has agreed I will stick my 2p in and say that the quality of their stock is second to none, as is the prep work that goes into them.

They are a dealer that people are prepare to pay a premium to purchase from and I'm sure they themselves pay a premium for the stock they source. To say that you couldnt sell a car purchased from them for half the money is utter nonsense proven by how popular they are.

I would argue however that its a crime that 90% of their stock is purchased and stored for future investment rather than enjoyed!

Dont start me !!
Yep Dealers are just forcing this stupid artificial market up, along with the US and now French are up to the same crap now ...700K Euro's for a 430 16M !!

The Porsche 930 933 964 thing ! I just don't get it? they are worth £16-£25k yet some are paying £50k=£100 and £150+ for RS 964'S and Speedsters etc

A friend of mine has a Ferrari 355 Fiorano car with factory roll bar with low miles .....and has been offered £200k,doesn't want to sell but not even he would pay more than £50k for it :-)
But as he says if someone wants to pay £100,000'S for a £50k car on you go.
Unfortunately if it goes like the late 80's and early 90's they could face the same fate and just crash like the F40, XJ220
They went down to 90K after going for mega bucks.
Just infuriates me ..

Found this after clicking on the link for the S15. I hear good things about these cars, but surely this pricing is preposterous... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-Daihatsu-Charade-GT...

930 worth that maybe in pre 07.

Not anymore. even a fire damage one last year sold for over 37k.
If I had waited till now,
it would have been out of my reach.

Value up or down did not bother me.
I knew each year money, would have to be spent and it has been done.

'POA' usually suggests that you're in for a bit of a fisting.

Also, how are Vauxhall getting away with charging 20k for a 1.6 diesel Astra?

Knowing Vauxhall, the cars don't get sold for anywhere near list price unless the customer has no more than the tiniest grip on reality.

I would go as far as to say that these are the guys who are single handedly responsible for making Jaguar E-types unaffordable now. I accept that they do prep work and their Eagle SuperSport is basically a bespoke car BUT £535,000 FOR AN E-Type!!! Have a browse at your leisure and try not to cry:

Most stock quotes are priced 10 times or more annual profit. Hell I know companies that go for 100 times annual profits.

How about art and watches.

There is one thing you can not do with any of the 3 above....drive it.

I see the parallel with the early 90's, but I also see differences. Demand has increased, the market has increased.
Did you know that the potential market for Porsche today is 5 times larger compared to the early seventies...So imagine this Porsche production was 10 times (?) lower in the seventies and the market today is 5 times larger (in terms of countries they sell into).

I found the 964 RS at Silverstone completely bonkers. But 1 individual did not.

Let's just see what else we could buy for my fictional 120 grand:

911 GT2?

Murcielago?

No, no - I'm going to buy a Ford Sierra instead with mileage so low I daren't use it...

Sheesh.

Alfa GTV Cups - touted for way more than the standard V6, for which you seem to get some body kit and a nice badge.

Merc CLK Black, I've never driven one, but struggle to see how they are worth 10 times more than the 500 or the 55.

On the CLK note, and picking up on the expensive garage prices, Norwich Car Centre have a W208 CLK320 up for £3500 - presumably valuing the plate at £1500.

The dealer in question seems to try to push up prices rather dubiously, especially when it comes to anything to do with rallying. Ford rs200's for example, most were advertised at £150k give or take (certainly below £200k). They now seem to be selling nearly every rs200 on the uk market, advertised at £245K,£300k and £400K respectively. The only other one i could find for sale was £150,000

All the dealers are at it. I suppose now are the times they dream about. Very dodgy times for 'investors' as all sorts of junk gets given a haircut and wheeled out.

Flame suit on, but Integrales. I know they're amazing. But they're not £60k+ for a clean late example amazing. Or £100k for a white one and some Martini stickers that, being applied by Lancia in the early 90s, will probably peel off as soon as you drive away.
Agreed - I've got an 8v which wouldn't sell for more than £7k - the Evo's which aren't rare and only 3 or 4 years newer / not much faster aren't worth 5 times as much.....

There must be investment money involved in these purchases - there's got to be a few storage units with hundreds of 'desirable' cars sat there getting older and more outdated, sorry, appreciating.

Imagine buying that £120,000 Sierra Cosworth and getting owned by someone in their Golf R @ £240 per month..

Having had a few Escort Mk2s back in the day, actually paying any money for one and having to get behind the wheel and drive the thing leaves me cold. £28k? Lolz. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C578493

Whats quite disturbing is going back through these pages and hitting the links. The amount of dead links suggest that the seller did indeed find a victim, sorry, customer for their car.
