Yikes, I assume the terrible roof vent accounts for most of the price ?
How much do you think a low mileage Type R is worth then?
I would say it's about on the money really. Not cheap but it's rare, mint, low mileage, three door. If I'd got the money I would be tempted to buy it.

Exactly my thoughts. It's certainly not excessive in my opinion.

£95000 for a 2.0l auto Beetle. Hahahahahaha. I think they are trying to make a new movie - "The car dealer who fked me" (or am I way off and the movie history really makes it worth that?)

Really ? Relatively low mileage and mint ones are making let's say 7k. Is this car really worth more than four times those? Anyhow as always just an opinion. Naturally they will differ.

In this month's Classic Cars mag, there is a featured 20k-mile Lotus Carlton for sale at £50k

Now this isn't a rant specifically at the price of said vehicles, but more to do with the fact that this advert specifically mentions it hasn't been serviced since 2008, and has been with the selling dealer since that time. It was suggested in the article it might need some new tyres!

I really don't care that it had only covered 700 miles in that time, I still cannot quite get my head around how this is being portrayed as a good point. If the car had never turned a wheel since it left the (final) factory I might be able to comprehend it a little more, but some of this stuff in the market now is just getting ridiculous IMO

If you know where I can buy a genuine Type R V-LTD Copué for £7k, please tell me as I'll buy two.
I'd say £20k is cheap for that given the price of 22B's.

Always thought the Clio V6 prices were way too overpriced, possibly by a handful of collectors working together.

On the topic of pricing, I found this on social media:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Assistance/comments/4fcnw...

Anyone able to help the user find car data as he's asking for in the link above. It's not my site, nor do I have any affiliation/links with the user posting.

Only thought I'd ask since this is the site to ask it on, it being a car site!

BTW... if you do help him (it's via private messages on assistance on reddit according to the site), you'd have to sign up for an account at Reddit, the site doesn't allow guest/anonymous posting.

But the E-Type from the first one wasn't worth that.

This car is generally overpriced.

The V12 version is astronomically expensive.

Non-M Z3 roadsters.

I'll declare an interest; I have a 6-cyl manual facelift Z3.

No idea why Z3 values are close to Z4 money. Late manual 6-cyl models currently widely advertised for £5K+, and they don't seem to be selling. I stumbled into one a couple of years ago because the price seemed too good to be true (it was, no idea what the trader was thinking), and it's really grown on me now.

Non-M models however remain unloved by anyone, and prices don't seem to be coming down. I'd expect these to be available at mk1/2 MX5 money now, but they just aren't. Genuinely perplexed at how well they're holding their value...

Having one in the garage, I can see the vfm in them- well-built 6-cyl, top-down motoring, and very little that can do the same trick at the price point. Having said that; try joining a Z3 OC/ forum- there's very little true enthusiast interest in them (breadvan owners aside). Don't see many on the road either... who's buying them?

It's perhaps a poor suggestion for this thread, as it's far from a new car, and M-models aside utterly uninteresting. This only makes it more intriguing to me- a forgotten/ unloved used car that you'd assume you can pick up for ~£2K. Who the hell is putting their ~£5K into a 3.0 Z3 when a 3.0 Z4 is available for a few hundred quid more?

The only thing I can suggest is that they are starting to look rather aesthetically pleasing in their old age (in facelifted, wide-arched guise at least). You'd never know it looking at PH, or anywhere else for that matter- but seriously; go look at one. When was the last time you saw a widebody M-lite facelift Z3 in the metal rather than the naff, narrow-bodied early 4-cyl model? My distinctly non-PH colleagues love the thing way more than I do...

Here's a dealer with some absurd, eye-watering prices for old E46 BMW 3 series

How about a 2005 E46 coupe for £8995?
Or a 2005 E46 coupe for £8750?
Or a 2004 E46 saloon for £8495!
http://www.odaviscars.com/stockdetails.asp?StockID...

Or a how about a 2004 E46 3.0 Sport estate for a mind blowing £9995?
http://www.odaviscars.com/stockdetails.asp?StockID...

To put that into context I just bought a 2002 E46 3.0 sport estate manual for £1500.
And recently sold an E91 2006 330 manual touring for £5.5k.

I dont know whats more mental the dealer putting them up for such an inflated price or anyone daft enough to buy one at these prices.

Quite right. If your own car hadn't been serviced since 2008, you wouldn't advertise it with pride, would you? The posh classic mags are still a great read but since the boom in 1980s Ford prices, too many dealers are trying it on.

Just looked at the ads. A as an independent dealer friend says, these are getting quite old now but are not yet classics, however that is defined. Also the old cliche.... If it was expensive to run new, it will be expensive to run old.

Better value than the Volvo, though.
There's one of these that's been parked collecting dust near a garage in North Shields for years now, wonder if it's worth making an offer...
