Is is undoubtedly a thing of rare beauty but (prepared to be corrected) £169,000.00?

They've been very expensive for a long time now.
What a beautiful beautiful thing,

The steering wheel sticking out from the sterring column is stunning

I dont think that's too unreasonable :/
This is two fifths of the price of the kgf one:

Very similar. 3 grand saving.

A late j reg efi example for me though please. 150bhp, silver, Spanish, with cow. One of those with 50k and a good history and zero rust (ha!) might just be worth 5k. Maybe. In a couple of years.

And this is my point kgf want 5 grand and its on chinese ste tyres.. Some prep!

And what did they pay 2 bags? Why not just find one yourself instead of paying the white background poncey flickr pic mark up?

Lad on autoste had a really tidy later one 89 up for £750
Im sure he still has it wink and its silver you want pointing his way?

One Hundred and Twenty Nine Thousand Pounds
List is £131k. What's the issue? New, RHD (ugly interior colour, ok) but that's what these cars cost.

If you really want to be shocked have a look at the second hand prices.

(biased comment, I know smile

Fairly expensive secondhand, I suppose.

A very worthy but ultimately valueless car

Yet there are two more S1 Rallye's shown on that page, with not a huge difference between them and that car. One is £3.5k and the other is £4k.

Exactly my point. Mind you, two years ago they were at £500...

It's a very interesting car, with a 175 bhp 2 litre engine, at a time when even cars like the Cavalier/Astra GSI were only making 155 bhp. I have no idea how they drive but it must have been quite quick by contemporary standards. I agree though, not worth what he is asking.

seriously buy them, if negative interest rates kick in and banks start deducting money from peoples savings (i think some German banks have already started) even more people will jump on the classic car band wagon

I agree. It's a good car but I can't see anyone paying more than shed money for it. I'd recommend it at a shed price

Maybe.. But you wouldnt want to put the miles on at that price regardless..

Corrado VR6's are still firmly imprinted into my head as 4-5 grand cars at a push,
The bubble is nuts IMHO.

The bubble will burst, soon I reckon. You'd be nuts to pay that for it, however nice it is. Shame as it's putting some truly lovely cars which should be affordable out of reach. (Yes, Peugeot 205 GTI, I'm looking at you)

yes

I almost bought an almost mint example for £900, 100k mileage put me off frown
