Yes, an 18 year old 2.0, 115HP Golf GTI, with admittedly low mileage for it's age, but he wants £4k for the most unloved, derided and hated Golf GTI ever.
I thought the Mk4 GTI was the most hated Golf GTI ever.

I took my E30 up the hill at Shelsey Walsh last week and most common remark of the day was how I was ''mad to take an E30 M3 on to a track''. It's a shame so many cars (like the M3, early 205GTi, R5 GTT etc) are being priced out of the hands of the average enthusiast.

Even if I wanted a Dakar e36 M3 convertible (I've just never got the whole ''M3 cabriolet thing'') that listing a couple of pages back, would have me looking elsewhere. Maybe that museum could sweep in and buy it instead? wink
It might just end up being a bubble. Are values rising so fast because of real demand to own one of these cars or because people are looking for somewhere to put their cash in the absence of returns from savings? It might ne that people thinking values will rise so buying is making values rise. If this is the case then the bubble will eventually burst.

Demand certainly appears to be exceeding supply. I know of a few people on the hunt and certainly prepared to pay mid 20's to early £30k's but there just aren't cars available. I've had a couple of offers on mine but I just know I would regret selling. As you say though, with current interest rates of 0.001% who's going to keep £35-40k in the bank?

I keep changing my mind. The massive increase in prices on anything even remotely interesting screams bubble to me BUT I also realise that they don't make cars like the E30 or other cars of that nature anymore and probably never will again.

If you want a reasonably light, good handling car with an N\A engine that likes to rev and a manual gearbox, what are your modern equivalent options? You've got the GT86\BRZ but the engine in that could only be described as adequate in terms of thrills. The Cayman\Boxster was the last standout and even that has gone turbocharged now so if you are after a certain type of driving experience that most modern cars no longer offer, it's either admit defeat OR get in a bun fight with other like minded enthusiasts plus all the collectors\investors for the limited supply of older cars.

Is that a Colour Concept ?? Looks like the wheels from one. Can't see the interior. Does make it rarer, still fine money mind you.

Have we had this one yet?

Butchered 15 year old Peugeot 206 1.6 for £6k anyone? Would any self respecting person be seen dead in such a Max Power style monstrosity these days?

Say 5 years ago, how much was the average GT2 of the same model 911, I don't recall them being over 300k

a) It's e34, b) It's an 535i with a creamy V8, c), it's rare, but surely that's worth £4k at max if it was an absolute minter I would be happy to snap that up at 4k, but I already own a shed of an E39 535i that's been off the road for 6 and a half years!
