1981 Fiesta Supersport for a scarcely believable £20,000! I'll have some of whatever they are smoking.

Not sure if this belongs here.

No idea of 850 prices.

850 CSi for £60k?

love the seats. Why don't ford do something like that in the fiesta? VW do that with the golf and let you get the tartain seats.

It's a Ford though so daft as that price seems it's probably a decent investment. I'm no fan of overpriced old cars but I'd rather have that for 20k than that Land Rover for 25k. I'd put money on the Ford losing less money, being vastly cheaper to run and more reliable. You also don't need to be orange to drive it ;D

Perhaps I'm being overly skeptical, but (ignoring the elephant in the room that is the price) the advert isn't really selling it- to me the following lines say;

advert said:
good unrestored condition
-It's rusty underneath and will need restoring at some point.

advert said:
some old MOTs
-Not much history

advert said:
very little sun damage
-There is sun damage

advert said:
the car also benefits from being a base model
-The car has no equipment that you would hope it might have. A wheelie-bin will have a higher spec.

When did advertising the fact that a car is the base model ever become a benefit?

For what it's worth I do think it looks superb, just not '£20k for an unrestored, 35-year old base-spec Fiesta with 'some' history and a spot of sun-damage' superb.

But it is a classic Ford so I've no doubt it will sell for a large chunk of that price.

LOL... I'm now trying to work out what the appropriate stereotype for over priced 80's Fords is? Middle aged, fat, faded tattoos?

It's not hard to take a half decent photo. You can even see the picture you've taken straight away, it's not like you've had to wait a week for Supa Snaps to develop your film before realising your photos are gash! Such a pet hate!

I actually like base model stuff, they generally become the rarest down the line as they're the most unloved, used and abused examples. I had a 1959 'Standard' Beetle pass through my hands. If you wanted to move the seats back you had to undo the wingnuts and move the seats before bolting them back down. One sun visor, no chrome sidetrim, painted headlight rings and so on. The crash gearbox and cable operated brakes took a bit of getting used to though laugh

I mean if they are going to take the piss on the price you would have thought the least they could do was spend 20 mins taking some decent photos. It isn't even an MG or a nice colour or anything. vomit

Wasn't there a batch of these a few years back (late 90s?) that were discovered and sold off really cheap?
