Why doesn't your architect appeal to the planning committee ? That's what they do on Grand Designs..

Why don't you sell your house and move to somewhere more suitable? You know, detached, land, workshop etc...

Sounds like he enjoys irritating the fk out of his neighbours too much.

OP, you bought a car that doesn't fit in your garage; that's your problem for being an idiot, stop making your neighbours suffer for it. Either buy a car that fits in or keep it under a cover and stop being a childish tt.
It does fit in his garage.

Permitted development on the back of a semi is 4m back from building line. But you only need enough to get your doors past the current narrow garage part......
I think.

I preferred the car cover
I'm pretty sure its extended to 6m for semis and 8m for detached in a 3 year govt incentive to encourage spend in the building trade (works need to be completed by 1/5/2016.

Were looking into this get the max possible design then assess impact to garden and budget/is it really needed to be that big.

Ohh my, what a fking eyesore, I'm surprised you even got a complaint, and didn't just wake up one day to find your neighbors had sawed through the supporting legs and carted it off somewhere.

Showed this to the wife and we both agreed it looks pretty well built and well done on the OP for trying to protect his P&J. Don't think its an eyesore at all.
Just goes to show how different we all are I suppose!

Not a eyesore just looks a bit daft in front of a nice house.

Yes it is ugly and I cannot see how it can possible be useful however thread infected with tenuous justifications of nimbyism. Why can't people just mind their own business any more?

If the OP wanted everyone to just mind their own business, do you think that posting on a very popular and notably right-wing internet forum perhaps wasn't the smartest move he could have made?

Oh well, if your wife thinks its well built then that's that. Lock the thread.
OP - forget the council request as the problem is now solved.

Love to see which way the rain flows in the first big downpour.

Hopefully away from the garage then you and the family could save water by using it as an al fresco shower, or indeed an automatic car wash.

Put this in your planning application under the environmental benefits section.

Because UK society involves certain norms. That's what makes the UK a nicer place to live than a lot of the world. Part of those norms are not building ugly crap in front of your house without giving your neighbours chance to object (within the rules).

UK society is not "I'll do whatever I want", it's about doing what is reasonable. That "construction" in front of that house in that street is not reasonable.

I wonder how your house insurance will view this if it gets pulled apart in a gale and damages somebody else's property?
Not to mention the car insurance; best of luck if the car gets squished

So the car won't fit in the garage - there's a simple solution to this:
You turn the living room and dining room into a through lounge.
Turn the through lounge into a garage by installing a large up over door.
Then convert the garage into a living room.
All the neighbours are kept happy, the council is kept happy - and you only have the wife to contend with (!)
I do not think that word means what you think it means...
