Councils have no power to make you remove a car tent, its a cover.
you can move it 5mm every six months if it makes you happy, but it will always be a cover, not a structure.
My old council of Castle-point in Essex tried that one on me a few years back,I challenged them there and then and they tried to show me some govt guideline about carports, dog kemmels, balconies etc.
Nothing at all covering car tents,
they went to their car and spent some time on the phone then just buggered off.
I know it was probably a neighbour(one a council member)that complained.

It really annoyed me at the time as the properties are L shaped and the tent sat in the alcove between them and could not even be seen until you were adjacent to my property as the next door neighbour had a 31 foot Burstner motor-home outside his house that protruded 12 from the building line.

I left a note on the tree at the corner which basically told anyone that if they did not mind their own business that I would be forced to park my beaver-tail Transit on the end of my drive with a car on it in front of the tent and park my 6.5 ton spec truck in the street every night.
Some one called the police who assumed I was making a threat,I explained my plight, they quite rightly thought it was a waste of their time.

Permitted development pretty much categorically states "no development in front of the building line" for fairly obvious reasons. You're also very unlikely to get formal PP for any such development.

OP, if you were absolutely honest with yourself I think you'd have to agree that that's not only inappropriate and in breach of planning, but it's pretty hideous to look at too. Common sense would dictate that you're not going to be allowed to leave that in situ. It's not even as if you have a long driveway and the port is up against the house tucked well away from the road.

As for the gazebo thing, likewise.

Not if it is self-supporting. That turns it into a structure.

Two points. Firstly when the wind grabs that tent and moves it about it may damage your cars and secondly, aren't you being a bit selfish inflicting one eyesore after another on your neighbours? I'd get some real advice rather than PH hero advice in any case.

so if i replace this with a gazeebo or garage tent do you think i will be able to get rid of them ?
Sorry - but there is nowhere in the western world that your structure is appropriate.

Can you not see why this is an issue for a lot of folks?

In all honesty i dont mind having to take it down if by law i do. However a tent cant be considerd a development

But like in the post earlier people who put caravans and trailers and big motor homes on theyre drives also create isssues for other people .

Im not looking to break any planning laws but act within them. So alternatives is what im after if i can have a tent or gazeebo on my drive without breaking the rules then thats what ill do !

You must have some reasonable neighbors, because if that had been built next to me I would certainly have been straight onto the council. As for a gazebo etc. same problem really. The other thing is how secure will they be? If you have the winds like we did yesterday then I could see the whole structure moving with likely damage to car etc

More off topic. If you haven't got a car in your garage already, will it fit in your garage?
