Mine on throttle bodies.
It is unbelievably loud on WOT from 4500 up to 7400, quite distinctive from 6000; standard exhaust at the rear!

Mk 2 RS 1800 BDA Escort heard approaching you on a forest rally stage. Nothing else roadworthy comes remotely close. And the metallic howl of an M3? Not unpleasant.

Here's one that might surprise you, an Evora with a cold air intake sounds like this:

This is the exact example i was thinking of it being tragically wrong

seen so many of these and similar hatch backs fitted with these open cone 'cold' air induction kits which just make a horrible grunting noise which the owners seem dead proud of
You're wrong, it sounded great.
I find it very unlikely that yours sounded great when others with the exact same modification sound truly awful
Or you're both wrong and tastes can actually differ among the 7 billion individual people on the planet without being right or wrong.
Do you know, I've just remembered I'm wrong and it actually sounded st.

My 993 has a K&N filter plus the Porsche 'motor sound' airbox which sounds fantastic, in fact even nicer than the exhaust note which is good in itself.

I heard a Honda S2000 on throttle bodies once and holy st it sounded amazing.

Why the fk are you rolling your eyes at me? I was saying each to their own and anyone can like or dislike something, it doesn't in any way make it ste.

fk it, you two carry on slagging each others opinions as though there is some objective result to be achieved.

I had a Corrado VR6 with a k&n air filter. It sounded superb.; real muscle car effect.

Made not a blind bit of difference to the performance smile

Individual throttles always sound best, whether carbs or FI. One throat per cylinder.

About 30 years ago I owned a Sunbeam Alpine and fitted a Holbay engine. At about 2,500 to 3000 rpm , just before it came on cam , each induction stroke sounded like an anvil being hit with a hammer . It was an incredible sound that I have only heard once since but have never been able to recreate .

E46 M3 was one of my 'usual suspects', can a 'normal' one be made to sound like a CSL without massive expenditure?
3.5 k Evolve carbon airbox sounds simply immense on WOT. I may be slightly biased as I have it fitted to my M3 but it really is something else.

F430. It is a very similar sound to the CSL up to around 6k RPM, but much louder and more intense - the intakes are right behind your head! 6k to 8.5k is incredible.
