Cannot open bonnet - any MOT implications?
Discussion
If a front light bulb ever failed, how would you change it?
You are going to have to fix it sooner or later, so why not now, I would get the garage doing the test to sort it prior to the actual test.
It might just be the catch is stiff/rusted up, this happened on my sons Picanto.....A good dollop of oil sorted it.
Good luck.

Assuming the VIN's visible through the windscreen, battery security is the only explicitly testable thing I can think of that's likely to require under-bonnet access off-hand, but since it screams poor maintenance, I suspect it'll be likely to raise the tester's eyebrows and make him look a LOT more closely at other things that might otherwise be borderline judgement calls.
Either way, it's something you're going to have to sort sooner rather than later, so might as well do it before the test.

Braking system hydraulics need to be checked under pressure, servo hose for vacuum leaks, power steering system for leaks, prescribed areas for the braking, steering and suspension components, headlights and other bits for security and corrosion, also an oil level check is advised and if diesel the oil temperature really needs to be measured.Either way, it's something you're going to have to sort sooner rather than later, so might as well do it before the test.
If you can get the bonnet to open, attach a loop of cable to it that can be accessed from the outside to open it, that's all that is required, not a fully blown as left the factory repair. The bonnet is required to latch securely for the MOT.

I've had an advisory for 'oil level low' so I inagine they do open it.
Really? Was this an MoT, or a combined MoT / service? The brake fluid reservoir (+ master and associated pipework) will need to be checked along with top suspension mountings and battery security. Those are three things off the top of my head which will cause a fail if they can't be inspected.

I'm not aware that an oil level check is part of the mot test?
Good practice to check the oil prior to an emissions or smoke test on a diesel plus the DVSA like the oil temp measured as well. The garage certainly wouldn't want to pick up the tab for the carnage if the engine failed under test on low oil.

Anything can be noted as an advisory. There's the infamous "wheels look st" one.As part of the emissions test oil temp is measured using a probe in the dipstick tube so it's not like the tester is going out if their way to look at the oil level.
