Your pics shows what I would describe as two chips to the paint which are down to the metal. The bubbling is common with untreated chips - by that I mean they haven't been touched in/sealed by applying paint - as rust sets in & spreads under the paint causing the paint to lift. It isn't a defect in the paint. Going by the extent, those are old & would have been present at the time of purchase.
Speak to the supplier & see what they are prepared to do, but I suspect they will be regarded as fair wear & tear - stone chips on a 2 year old car are to be expected.

(Re the post by Cologne2792, Mercedes had a major issue with paint in the early 2000s. I saw a lot of nearly new ones at the time with that sort of stone chip corrosion. Their paint was a LOT thinner than the late 90's cars)

Without a doubt! It'll be a smart repair by their in house smart repair lad who agreed with paintman about untreated stone chip and said hopefully it'll be sprayed and returned same day.

If the dealer agreed with the cause being untreated stone chips, it won't be a warranty claim.

Sounds like they've agreed to fund a goodwill repair, which is a result. Well played.

Ive a 2003 Golf which I accident damaged 3 years ago and has paint missing on an inch of bonnet down to the metal and to this day the rust has never spread and lifted any paint either side of the damage. Id say Nissan don't galvanise their cars for that to happen. That's one good thing about VW/ Audi- they have more years of experience galvanizing their cars than any other mainstream manufacturer and seem to do a better job of it than others.

Had a customer with a two year old (2001) E 320 CDI Estate that suffered a similar fete. Metallic Gold with little rust bubbles breaking out over the entire horizontal surface area. Amazingly it was completely resprayed by Mercedes under warranty - though that was in 2003.
And then again in 2005, then some bodge repairs in 2006 and then off to the knackers yard in 2009 with holes rusted straight through it biggrin

I can remember seeing various Mercedes models that were 3 or so years old at that time with rust like I'd not seen since the early 90s, patches in the middle of door panels and nibbling along the bottom of the door. You see them driving around now looking horrific, I am sure there are plenty of people at Mercedes Benz who'd like to round them all up and squash them in the hope that the entire period is erased from their history.

ETA - good result, worth knowing SG Petch actually give a monkeys about their customers once they have their money. I'm sure many would have tried to weasel out of it.

This. Good they've agreed to repair it though-good service.

Check the repair thoroughly though as (not meaning to put a downer on it) SMART repairs can vary in quality from excellent to bloody awful.

Why amazingly? Merc cut corners with their painting in that era so why shouldnt they have corrected it when they got caught out?

Because generally manufacturers don't care - otherwise they wouldn't have cut corners in the first place.
