Lamborghini Aventador 'Pirelli Edition'

Special Aventador celebrates long-standing Lambo/Pirelli alliance in suitably subtle fashion...

Did you know the Pirelli-Lamborghini relationship is as old as Lamborghini itself? Every Lambo, from Espada to LM002 to Huracan, has used Pirelli tyres as original fitment. To mark the 51st year of the alliance (presumably it wasn't enough to be celebrated last year) Lamborghini has launched a Pirelli branded car.

The Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition is available now and will be with customers in time for the 2015 summer show-off season. Appropriately enough it is available as a coupe and Roadster.

The changes for the Pirelli Edition are entirely cosmetic so you'll have to make do with the same 700hp and 217mph as a boggo Aventador. There are two rather complicated paint options for the Pirelli, just in case the red stripes and those tyres don't get you noticed. Option one is having a matt black roof, pillars, wing mirrors, bonnet and intakes with a choice of six body colours (Giallo Spica, Rosso Mars, Bianco Isis, Nero Aldebaran, Grigio Liqueo and Grigio Alter). The other is gloss back for those upper parts with four matt body finished (Bianco Canopus, Nero Nemesis, Grigio Adamas and Grigio Titans). Got it?

Peer at the roof really closely and you'll see the Pirelli logo again. Lamborghini hasn't yet released any interior pics but we're promised another red stripe, more Pirelli badges and much black Alcantara. Just in case nobody yet had the message.

The Pirelli Edition is described as a 'special series' by Lamborghini but without a fixed number of units for production. Expect a suitably steep premium from the £260,040 (coupe) and £288,840 (Roadster) for an Aventador by the world's most famous calendar maker.

Love the tyres, surprised noone's thought of that before (with the exclusion of maybe the Zonda R).

Great looking tyres though I'm thinking the Aventador has not aged well at all. Seems far too fussy and overangled. Thought it looked great when it first came out!

I'd have thought they'd have at least put new tyres on it, considering the cost.

I've never found Pirelli's to be any good, I've tried their best summer tires (Pirelli P-Zero and Corsa) and felt like I had no grip at all.

Moved over to Michelin Pilot Supersports and now on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 and it's like nothing can unstick them, even full bore starts!

Although I think their winter tires are fantastic...

Ebony and Ivory - the white and black combination looks pretty good.

I think that looks great - although the tone of the piece suggests I'm not supposed to. In fact, I think I'm supposed to think that the only people who would buy that are people with lots of money who just want to shout about it...and that's the only reason.

Hey, maybe that IS me?!!

There'll be loads of marbles outside Harrods when those supersofts start to deteriorate.

Blast from the past - Anyone else remember this from the 25 year anniversary? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dogaUWwKpAU

I wonder if it will have the hideous seat inserts like the Pirelli MK5 Golf GTI?

Lamborghini lover here, but not sure I quite get this 'edition'.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pay a premium to advertize the manufacturer of the tyres on my new supercar.

However Santa, I've been good all year and kept my room tidy and everything.

Not really top notch is it? Expect plenty of vinyl wraps on white and black cars to echo the look. Personally i'd have a Zonda R or McLaren P1 but then they cost a lot more than the Lamberelli.
