Mate you've got beautiful machines around you and know what you are doing , but for me the gto is the ultimate Ferrari . If for nothing else because it was THE car when I was a nipper even though I preferred the 959 ! I never even dreamed I'd ever own such a thing .

I totally understand that. For me it was the Countach, so I'll probably never sell that smile

How well I remember the 959/GTO period of road tests in the likes of Motor - heady times with German efficiency versus Italian vavavoom. My god I wanted them both - but if you voted with your heart there was only one winner...

Agree with whats been said already, probably the best looking Ferrari built.
I adhore these cars.
In dream land the choice between a 288gto, Isdera Imperator 108i and Countach Lp5000s would be very difficult.

This is easily my favourite Ferrari ever. Whatever happened to dog-leg gearboxes anyway?

Great job. The worst part of a Ferrari is the crap engine. Replace the unreliable fireball with a built to last American piece and keep the beautiful 288 GTO body. Awesome.....http://youtu.be/3_622rP7bqI

Definitely one of my favourite Ferraris and the 'crotchless' rear end is certainly, for me, the best rear of any car. If you don't lust after a 288 then I don't want to be your friend!
