My 16V (first performance car):

My Williams (no.123 of the original 400):

Both great cars, fondly remembered.

must have a wonderful induction noise

do you have a bonnet for it or do you race it that way ?
Yes, it does sound amazing!

Yes, I do have a bonnet for it which is on it when in use. I had it made from fibreglass (saves over 10kg in weight compared to the original) and is held in place by bonnet pins so it has to be removed completely to get photos showing the engine bay.

I had a dog of a 91 red clio 16v......but it was still fun.

Bought it cheap from a dodgy guy in slough. always a great start.

I was only 19 at the time so it only lasted a week, the water pump started leaking, it had a hot start problem, the fuel pump buzzed like mad but the cambelt snapping killed it in the end.

the figures don't give a fair representation of the car.
I had a 16v Astra gte at the time and although on paper it would be no contest it was more then a match.

However mine was covered in stickers from a renault tuning company (radbourne racing?) so may have been played with?

I have an N plate 66k naples red one sitting in my garage on a sorn for the last 4 years, I got it 6 months old from a main dealer and kept it until the fixes exceeded the value by double and it failed it's MOT. Being sentimental I haven't had the heart to scrap her and had intentions of making a track car (20 min from Brands Hatch). If anyone has any advice or websites I could read it might expedite the process, I might even give it away to the right person who'd do the same as long as I could have a go!

Was day dreaming about these just the other day. Wondering if any good examples were still about
Around 2000 we had a 1.2. Liberty I think.
Anyway was amazing how much pace you could keep up along bumpy B roads. Just floated over them all

I did have a 19 16v in blue also with a very sloppy steering rack!

Loved the 19, Sloppy racks were quite common on the clips too if I remember - I used to own J471 PHA (an identical red 16v) back in 1999 and after selling it the rack failed on the chap who bought it ...... on the motorway

Truth is a lot of these were broken for spares or rusted away as they were changing hands for not a lot of money - I dabbled with buying another one since 2010 to but all of them seemed to need substantial work.

There’s still a fair few Williams kicking about which have been creeping up in value over the past couple of of years, I have a phase one Williams which is a better car to drive but no where near as nostalgic as the 16v is for me.

My friend had the 19 16v in white with OZ Super Ts. It looked really good. I had the Clio 16v in grey - later to be stolen and used in a couple of robberies. Shame, I loved that car.

My 19 was the dark metallic blue with a rusty bonnet round the scoop lol
Had all the front end painted.
I put some 5 spoke BK racing wheels on. Probably only 16s. Those were the days eh?
Chopped it in for a 620ti.

I had one too from new back in 92. I comprehensively ruined it - I seem to recall having it featured in “fast car” in 2004 by which time I’d had it resprayed a stupid colour, put stupid wheels on it and all the other stupid stuff you do when you’re young and stupid.

Until I ruined it I seem to remember it being really lovely to drive.

Oh hang on I’ve just remembered that the girls really liked the different colour and stuff. THAT was why I did it hehe

Wow that's stunning, wasn't sure if there were any still out there running to be honest. Always loved the 16V models, we used to hire out the go-kart track at Haynes Motor Museum and have days of low speed handling fun in these.
