hmm I don't know - theres already a good choice to choose from already; BMW M5/M6GC, Audi RS6/RS7, Merc E63/CLS63, Jag XF-R & XF-RS ...
I don't know why someone would choose this over the others?

Well it's the only one without a turbocharger and it's likely to be peerlessly reliable.

I think there's little that's rational in this sort of market though. People will buy whichever car they want, regardless of practical/technical concerns.

I don't know why Toyota/Lexus are persisting with the NA V8.

Toyota need another insanely over engineered turbo engine to be a spiritual sucuessor to the 2JZ to get me interested in anything hot they do.

Perhaps because it's not one of those! The aftercare is apparently second to none too.

Looks like a lovely car in my opinion, more so from the rear, the front isn't the best but overall it's a very good looking car. Definitely an interesting alternative, and the old IS-F was also a great car imo.

Long time Lexus LS owner (second one now).

Lexus were accused of being too beige, and so they bring out some funky cars (LFA?). And now that they are one of the few manufacturers that persist with NA, they just cant seem to get past people snobbery. Toyota? Pfft.

If this is a Toyota, then bring it on. Any ~500bhp toyota is a good thing. I seem to recall someone driving an Ultima with a twin turbo lexus v8 engine putting out 1400 bhp - all from a stock block. I dare say these engines are massively under stressed, with loads of potential, should owners want to go there.

Forget the aftermarket though, for just a moment.

Who wants to be yet another in a german car? I mean, wheres the originality? Want to be a lemming, go for it. Want to tell people you can think for yourself and not run with the predictable...

Massive respect.

Is an estate too much to ask for?
Please Lexus, please!
For some reason Lexus are reluctant to do estates
Maybe they do not sell in Japan (do they?) but look at, well, pretty much anywhere else - they do!
Lexus is missing a lot by not having an answer to RS6 Avant and E63 estate.
I'd love to buy a 2nd hand GS but since I need an estate it's off the list. Shame.

Lexus sell most of there cars in the USA, not sure if they like their wagons over there or not? I think estates are very much a Euro thing

They have done a twin turbo version of this engine. Google Lexus TS650

I thought americans liked estates with that whole station wagon thing but maybe they all moved into SUVs since then.
