This looks like a money making opportunity the DVLA could utilise. Pay a fee to DVLA enquiry, they pass enquiry to owner who acts on or ignors.

Have a tick box on DVLA forms where owner can opt out, so not constantly bothered with enquiries, DVLA informs enquirer opt out on this registration, but keeps enquiry fee.

Small fee so not too offensive, but is extra revenue stream.

And it would annoy some russkies, which is a good thing, because it says "Suck it punk" in Russian wink

Why dont you contact one of these places that knock up the fake 'show' plates and give her them instead?

Example: http://www.myshowplates.com/
It's a bit rubbish if she can't actually put them on the car.
I'm sure someone posted recently that their Mrs had done this?
Really? Put fake plates on her car?

If, theoretically I saw this car in a car park, and the owner dropped some personal items (a photo album full of photos or something), would the DVLA consider this a valid reason to supply me with the address? You know, so I could return said item? wink

Find me a number plate with THAT on and I would buy it. Although it would offend quite a few of my friends.

And I don't know how you made the 'соси' connection, but well done. I see your point!

Exactly - no point just having them on on the driveway. I could just print some vinyl out myself for that.

Indeed, never seen it work before!

Just add weight there are posts regarding Freelanders under NJW1066 username on other forums which is what the plate is on.

Cheers Zollar, impressively quick response!

I was hoping that by now it might have been on a scrapper.
If it's on a Freelander you shouldn't to wait too long.

If it had been scrapped, then you'd be way out of luck - plates die with the vehicle they were on, never to be resurrected.

That gives me an idea... there's a couple of plates which I'm looking for and might start posting in the manufacturer specific forums now...

Plates one letter removed are in the £250 mark so it's more than likely nothing special to the Freelander owner.
That's not how the pricing of private plates works...
Nope, I suspect Mr FL could ask for a wee bit more wink

Kudos for posting though, would be nice for this thread to have a happy ending.
