It's stunning and a refreshing change from the hybrid based supercars.
On the styling, first thought was that it looks like a Lotus Evora with an extended rear end, almost like Ford decided to take on Hennessey with their extended Elies.
Big question will be price, will they stick to their Ford GT blue-collar roots and stick it at the £100k level, or align the price with the new Lambo / Ferrari 458?

the sound is pretty good for a V6 listen at almost the end they start/drive it a little.

Nice design for sure but nothing refreshing. Ford has not pushed the boat out on much here. Same rough ethos as the last generation apart from a carbon tub and active aero...nothing groundbreaking. First line demonstrates how a badge snob behaves (name only), but that doesn't mean there aren't petrolheads dying to get a hold of this car (Ford's target audience anyway). Ford have been performing well in motorsport for decades. You know all this of course, you own an NSX

I think it dilutes, undermines the GT of the type Clarkson owned and had problems with.
Calling this new one GT is like the Mini/MINI and Beetle nonsense. I don't want the GT40 anywhere near such Branding and heritage muppetry. I don't like the GT40 being despoiled in that way. How is that car and the company history honoured by using a GT brand on this great new car?
How many magazine front covers screamed 'The New E-Type' for how many years?
It's a great car I just wish it was called something else. 'GTE' for Ecoboost? Thereby they could get the Ecoboost branding out there on the back of this car. With regard to comments about the length and rear overhang. Perhaps there's an Aero and stability benefit? I am thinking the long tail and short tail Porsche 917 and the McLaren F1 Le Mans cars with the extended tails.
The comment about the length of the rear overhang made me think Lancia Stratos. That has a much shorter rear end. There's only one Stratos, just as there's one Miura.
I think the Lexus LFA is fantastic even if a Nissan GT-R can keep up with it. Where's the heritage baggage with the LFA? 'It's got a V10 like an F1 car'? I'd just wish this GT was like the LFA, free from the baggage that a GT name would give it. I can't see how this car, or the previous one called GT benefit from sharing a name. Jordan and Katie Price?

The potential owners don't care, but with the new US EPA regs coming in soon, and even more stringent ones due next decade) Ford (and most other US makers will be forced over from the traditional V8 because of the leve of imposed fines on them if they don't. There was rumours around US forums last year that this new Mustang will be the last V8 version, so I suspect Ford want to showcase the future, and I can see why.The current US buying public might be a little anti it though, so it's a ballsy decision on their part not to put a TT version of the flat plane V8 into this.
Otherwise, great to see one of the greatest names in motorsport coming up with something like this - bravo indeed.
And even more so that as said, NO hybrid crap as well, it's a proper car

I'm pleased that, whilst there are nods to the GT40, they've decided to move away from the scaled-up replica approach of the last GT. That was fine for that car, but a MODERN Ford GT to race (and do well!) at Le Mans, now that's something to get excited about.

In plan view the pinched in waist makes me think Elise or Alfa 4C. It looks a bit sinewy or wyrey. It makes the bits that cover the wheels, look steroidal or vacuum cup assisted like Mrs Kanye West's bottom could be according to the Daily Mail. The headlamps and front bonnet vents say GT40, but then there's the complicated rear end.
The face says GT40, midriff says generic hypercar.

There are proper multi-view renders out there but I thought I'd have a go.
I see what you're saying about the rear end but as some have already mentioned it's all about the aero, form following function... and all that!
Jame5, looking at your rendering some more my gaze has noticed the way the lines from the front narrow at the waist and then taper further towards the tail, those lines on either side passing under the forward leaning C post that has a flying buttress aspect to it.

Love this car! Thankyou Ford! Styling is perfect, a true GT, a real evoluton of the original beautiful GT!
I just hope this cars outer body pannels arent Carbon Fibre, that would push the price 350-400k? probably limited production for a select few who were lucky enough to be asked to buy one, then mostly not driven much or stored. Using Carbon body pannels like the 650's, Aventador or 4C would be better and hopefully allow the car to be priced 180-250k and be built in larger numbers for Ford to once again really give the boring "establishment" a good kicking, while allowing more Ford fans the chance to either own a GT or simply enjoy seeing them driving about.
Lamborghini take note: This is what your Asterion "Miura" shud have looked like, with 1000bhp quad turbo v12, im guessing VW/Audi/Bugatti wouldnt let them do it, hence the rubbish odd looking Asterion thing which had a Giant "VW" in the rear window... Im beginning to think Lamborghini have been castrated.
