Didn't the new RR Sport save something like 400kg from the old model?
Probably, but the RR Sport isn't a pickup truck; some parts (like the bed for example) need to remain made from more heavy duty materials.
Ah, I didn't read the statement to be pick up specific. I wonder how many people actually use these sort of things to lug concrete slabs around on anyway. I'm suprised they don't do a lightweight "non-utility" version woth a max weight load bed of 6 cans of beer and a BBQ smile

Yeah and you pay 20-30k or more for the privilege of the squidgy interior to go with the performance. Look how much an RS5 costs....FROM £60k... the Mustang V8 £35k.

Also since when has Ford been premium? Theres a reason why the Focus ST cost 22k and the Golf R 30k. They aren't.
If I may just wade in.. the Focus RS will rival the Golf R, the ST is a GTI rival which is much closer on price.
I was thinking for a performance point of view rather than where they sit, obviously the ST sits in the middle of the GTI and R and is a good chunk cheaper than the GTI bought privately (ignoring lease deals).

My 13gt cockpit is a lovely place to be. The s550 mustang has a good materials inside apart from the top of the door panels. I just don't like the design compared to my 13gt. It also seems smaller inside and theres less headroom from rear passengers. I've seen 2 this week for the first time on the streets.

I don't get mine serviced at a dealer so its not an issue. If past Mustangs have been anything to go by the engine should survive on oil & Filter changes for 100,000 miles (aside from the odd air and fuel filter) - if it doesn't then I will be disappointed. You can do those on the driveway wink
But in the unlikely event something does go bang, what do you do?

Upgrade from a 5.2 litre flat-plane crank V8 that revs to over 8000rpm? Suggestions?

Buy a new engine direct from Ford as I am sure once the cars go on sale the engines will be too (they sell the current GT500/Ford GT engines).

To be honest (and I race mine) I haven't even thought about what I would do if the car went bang. I'd certainly be cycling to work until it was fixed.

As it should be! That flat-plane crank V8 is evil and it's 'only' the standard 350, what's the R going to be like?! I fear we're all living in the twilight years of cars like this. It won't be long before they're confined to the history books but as last hurrah's go this is looking good!

Fantastic. I wish GM would do the same with the Corvette, Cadillac CTS-V and Camaro:

But with this GT350R having a lot of unique features (such as the flat-plane crank V8) could you get is serviced at a local dealer?
What would they do differently at service time between a flat plane and cross plane?

4x6 isn't 22?

Very interested to understand how much weight is saved for a carbon fibre wheel versus a forged aluminium wheel of the same size and specification...

If we assume that both statements are correct allowing for rounding up or down, each wheel saves between 5.5 and 5.62kg.

Just one small thing - the arena whre all these unveilings took place is actually called the Joe Louis Arena. He was the Detroit-born world heavyweight boxing champ in the '40s. No idea who this Joe Lewis is.

I was at the Essen motorshow recently and enquired about some of these for my car. From memory the weight for the CF wheels was similar to the BBS wheels I have fitted already so didn't pursue it any further. Here are the wheels I was looking at. For 19" GT3RS fitment they were €15000
