I understand the cash sale bit but not the no discount bit, what does it matter to them what you do with your money? As sale is a sale whether it's un-saleable afterwards would be your issue not theirs.
A lot of the discount is provided by the finance arm, and the rest for moving metal the factory is already set up to build. Something unusual is gonna cost, whether it be Designo/Individual finishes or plainly 'cos it inconveniences everyone.I've got an individual (paint and full leather and trim) Z4C and got a good discount at the time I bought it what I find is it adds a delay to the order rather than a lack of interest or discount from the dealer.
That's why I find it unusual that that acted the way they did.

It still has the stupid tablet appendage stuck on the otherwise lovely fascia.
Exactly what I was thinking! Had a look around my local MB dealership the other month and hated all the cars with that silly screen just stuck there. Looks more like the designers finished off the interior then suddenly said, "oh no, there's no screen for anything, let's just put it there". Horrid design.
Car looks lovely though .

In terms of the C450 being available in the UK, there seems to be alot of confusion. Some articles mention June 2015 and others June 2016! Does anybody know when we are likely to see it? My dealer doesn't know!
There's an MB UK press release kicking around which says June 2016.These look great!
Red estate for me please!
I don't think it will take anything away from the C63 though, as I was looking at a 335i type car and Merc didn't seem to offer one without being Diseasel which was a big no-no for me.
I think they've placed this very well.
30mpg
nearly 400hp
4WD
I think this has got the S4 licked if I'm honest. I really like the look of this and will wait for this one to come out before decided on a 335i/S4.

this - audi has a great elegant solution to this. why can't mercedes do something somethingr.
.........wheres the blu - tac?
Sat in the c and a6 recently, and I'm sorry to say, when the display is open (all of the time when I'm in the car), it looks way worse in the Audi. You best keep it away, and that's for a multi thousand pound option. .........wheres the blu - tac?
I'll have the merc every day of the week.
Other than that, all manufacturers seem to do similar these days, it's not the best solution but far from as bad as some seem to make it out to be.
Go and sit in a 3 series, a4 and new c class back to back and try to tell me with a straight face that the code class isn't a generation ahead.
Seems Mercedes are taking note on the 'tablet stuck to dash' comments as they may be redesigning it for release early next year.

MB seem to have tendency of calling a 2015 release, a 2016 model. I had this issue with a dealer when they assured me the E Class coupe facelift was due for release in the summer of 2014, but turned out to be 2013, and this was official information from MB UK. The Mp said:

I take your point though - the facelift C Class I have was released mid-2004 as a 2005 model - and it certainly seemed weird to me to announce a car 18mths in advance. However many MB owner are eagerly awaiting the GLC (was GLK) mid-size SUV and 4Matic saloons in RHD and there's no sign of those coming this year.
As for the 'sat nav stuck to the dash' look (and not sure if it has been covered...CBA reading 7 pages to find out) ....thats EU legislation (fking EU nazis).
Idea being, in layman's terms, it needs to stand out, be more visible and be higher to the eye-line than older styles of integrated SatNav....see mine on photos below.
Back to the C450. Nice, squeezing into the S4/335i/435i as a more accessible sport model under the AMG/RS/M. But with 350-400bhp and 'only' 30mpg, the UK market for these must be comparatively finite when the dreaded top flight oil-burners punch as hard but offer far better mpg (and less frequent fill-ups?)

Funny that a dealer wouldn't know that, perhaps it was the first Mercedes press release they had read.gizlaroc said:

But the way the screen was integrated in the W204 was pretty much as in the eye-line as the current nonsense. Just a bad M-B design decision IMHO, borne out by the apparent swift move to the 'glass cockpit' style of the current S-Class.Idea being, in layman's terms, it needs to stand out, be more visible and be higher to the eye-line than older styles of integrated SatNav....see mine on photos below.

The dealer no doubt just contacted the MB UK call center who seem to know less that most dealers, which is astonishing.I called MB UK about the C450 last week and was just told to keep an eye on the Future Car section of the MB website. The "adviser" on the other end of the phone had no idea about the car, and didn't know anything about the Detroit reveal. Am I expecting too much?

Getting the New S Class display, as is next years new E Class.....
Looking carefully at the photo a few times, I don't think they have revised the 'tablet' screen thing... If you look carefully you'll see the bottom of the 'tablet' just covering the top of the vents, then up the left side of it you'll see it's a different physical unit than the TFT instrument cluster....http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/scoop/major-inte...

Finally look at the cloth - along the top and right hand side it's clearly draped over the 'tablet' again.
Maybe as a test mule its just easier to gaffer tape the 2 screens out of an S class in , plug them up to the ECU, drape a blanket over the gaping hole behind and go testing rather than risk showing any public view of the actual proper facelift dash which i would imagine is actually only tweaks anyway. Just bought a C Coupe - so that has the W204 Dash. Sat in the S Class and really didnt like the slabs of glass at all. Give me dials any day of the week. I dont have a huge problem with new c class screen. Allows the rest of the dash to be much less imposing and leave the screen in the same place.
