Will there be a plain C450 estate available, i.e. without all the AMG Sport cosmetic gubbins, kerb-scraping wheels and rubber band tyres?
Are plain Mercs called SE now?
Well this appears to add a new category, so list would be:Are plain Mercs called SE now?
SE
Sport
AMG Line
-> AMG Sport
Plus the Mercedes-AMG C63
By default you get 16" wheels in the SE, 17" in the Sport and 18" in the AMG Line.

367bhp ? Wouldn't even match even a cooking modern Ferrari. Not even the power to weight of a Porsche turbo !
Eh?It's a £40k family estate car, hardly comparable to Ferraris and 911Ts......Sorry. I was being ironic. So tell me, why does a family need something that goes from 0 to 62 in 5 seconds ? Especially when in this country, mostly you can't even average say 50 mph and around 15 in Boris's big smoke !!.....True sporting cars granted, are the exception.

BMWW will surely need to respond with an M335i Xdrive, surely? I like this car a lot.
I reckon we will see the 340xi Touring when the facelift arrives. MikeGalos said:
Wow. Extra money for the package and they STILL have the "let's glue a cheap tablet on a post and hope nobody notices we designed a new dashboard without thinking about modern telematics" dashboard?
Unbelievable. This isn't 2005.
this - audi has a great elegant solution to this. why can't mercedes do something somethingr.Unbelievable. This isn't 2005.
.........wheres the blu - tac?

Out of interest, what mpg do you get out of the C350? Is it a 268bhp model or the later 301bhp model? Only, the later is supposed to get a 'book' of 38mpg (I think I even remember seeing 40mpg combined on the Merc website when the car was available). The earlier engine is only 'book' 28mpg...
Computer shows 22mpg, but that is my heavy right foot and only local town driving. 28mpg is about right for motorway driving, 38mpg no chance surely that must be for the C350 diesel and not the petrol?oop north said:

"Luxury does not equal low profile tyres."
- so true. Merc must know that: I wish their UK marketing dept did too.
I loved the way the press videos of the new E Class were all from a car bathed in light leather in Elegance trim, but you couldn't actually order that in the UK.
My Avantgarde was woeful ride wise, the F11 5 series I swapped it for was in a different league comfort wise.
The C400 in Elegance trim would appeal to a lot of people I reckon, hopefully we will see the E400 available in that guise when it is released.

Nope, diesels are quoted as around 45/47mpg depending on model year (BlueEfficiency or not). I was surprised too that it was quoting around 38/40mpg for the later petrol, but it was so in several places. What model year is yours?

Looking at official figure is pointless. Autobild has done a test a while ago with small town cars and not one reached claimed figure with some being off by 30%.What model year is yours?
Official figure is wishful thinking.

2008 with 7 speed auto so 268bhp version. It is a brilliant car, almost sold it last year but couldn't find a better replacement, so have kept it for a little while longer. What model year is yours?

They're rare as hens teeth. I'd like a facelift (so 2011>) C350 with the newer engine after I move, but I imagine trying to find one will be near impossible, especially as they withdrew the engine before they stopped building the W204. That said, my commute is and will be predominantly sitting on motorway so I imagine it'll be a little easier to get close to the quoted mileage than with your town miles.Cheers!

I don't think there is the slightest chance of this being available in anything other than AMG trim - mercedes uk has decided that top of the line must be sporty (apart from S class) so impossible to get 350 e class in se spec now and on the c class it is impossible to spec an se with most extras. I tried as was interested in a narrow wheeled Model to keep benefit in kind down but then you cannot get sunroof or comand or upgraded stereo. Bmw has a much better approach than this. Not that I have bought one of them either... I would maybe get an e350 estate if I could do so without it being AMG but that is not possible which is very irritating. Luxury does not equal low profile tyres
Over Xmas I traipsed round the usual dealers asking them about this very thing.Audi and Merc just don't seem interested in selling a car with more than about 200hp with wheels any smaller than 18", and usually 19", wheels. BMW still have a reasonably sensible policy of having two fairly equal top trim packages in M Sport and Luxury, but spoil Luxury slightly by insisting on run-flats.
Jaguar have a more sensible approach to comfort but even they're going down the silly wheels/stiffened suspension route. Plus, the salesman I spoke to at Lancaster was a bellend.
Merc did indicate that they would be able to order a car in pretty much any spec I wanted (red E350 saloon with light grey leather on 17s, anyone? ), but strictly on the understanding it was effectively a cash sale with zero discount i.e. they've no interest in the sale or having it back in the dealer network to flog on at any point.
All I want is a well-specced 6-cyl petrol estate, with a decently cushioning amount of sidewall. Not too much to ask, is it?

The 5 series on 18" wheels in SE guise (now luxury), even on runflats, is far more comfortable than the Merc on 17" wheels. I wanted (red E350 saloon with light grey leather on 17s, anyone?
And you can order it on proper tyres too by the way.
There was a 550i SE Touring outside mine the other week on German plates.
It was in a brown metallic with the most beautiful light interior, it was Individual as it had the funny steering wheel with a piano laquer black bead running through it, sounds awful but it looked stunning in a very understated way.
It was a facelift F11 as well, which I don't think you can even order in the UK anymore?

I understand the cash sale bit but not the no discount bit, what does it matter to them what you do with your money? As sale is a sale whether it's un-saleable afterwards would be your issue not theirs.
A lot of the discount is provided by the finance arm, and the rest for moving metal the factory is already set up to build. Something unusual is gonna cost, whether it be Designo/Individual finishes or plainly 'cos it inconveniences everyone.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
