RE: Honda Civic Type R spy shots

I don't really get why they're seemingly trying to make it average looking. Surely it should be bonkers, the competition will be. With this being their foray into turbocharging it ought to be a revelation, but it looks a bit insipid.
why should it be bonkers?..previous type r's haven't been bonkers, just type r variants of the base model. You can't really see what it looks like anyway and chances are this is probably a test mule. Being too "bonkers" would put a lot of people off.SuperchargedVR6 said:
What are the tech specs for this version? I'm guessing 200hp 1.6 turbo, LSD and rock hard suspension?
That's not going to do much against the Golf R, is it?http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...

Instead the big news is that Honda has confirmed the engine: a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC making "over 280hp" and redlining at 7,000rpm.

At what size does a wing become homosexual?
Not inferring homosexuality I was more going for as in happy.. a big "happy" wing.. Generally applies to anything over and above ducktail spoilers and yes the wing on my 911 could have been classed as a BGW. Edited by MustardCutter on Wednesday 14th January 14:25
Cool, that's more like it.
I was being cynical because of the 1hp difference between the EP3 and FN2, but Honda claimed the latter was quicker due to shorter gearing and less weight. I just thought they might get up to their old tricks, but yeah, any hot hatch newcomer is going to need a minimum of 300hp these days.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I'd prefer if they toned it down and actually put a more sensible spoiler on it. I'm not saying they should reduce it to Golf\VW levels of sleep inducing boredom but that "big gay wing" (has someone just coined a new PH phrase?) is a step too far for me. So keep the wide blistered arches but loose the spoiler or at least give the option to replace it with something a bit more sensible.
I was actually considering one of these for the missus as she wants a hot hatch, I usually like Honda's engineering and I didn't want to just go down the default German route as that's just boring. This however is just a tad too in your face for my liking. Anyone over 30 driving this will look like a "try hard" if it stays in full-on boy racer dress so only 20 something's need apply and they probably couldn't afford the insurance!

has there been any F1 team hatchbacks since the Williams Clio?
A few renaultsports (f1 team, r26, red bull etc etc)Edit: looked up the RB8 Megane, it seems to be a normal optioned-up Cup Megane with a unique paint job. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong though...

The older generation renaultsports were developed by the Motorsport division in the alpine factory i
The mk3 Megane Rs was built in Valencia
But believe the prototype was developed at the alpine factory using all there Motorsport moguls
So yes you are sort of wrong, the Williams clio had a coating to the inside of the cylinder head which was dropped on the w2 and w3 other than that I think the dampers were re valved and it had speedline wheels and stickers

Very excited about the Civic Type R.
That said, I'd rather show interest in how the thing's going to drive than whether it has a styling feature or not- let's face it, EP3 wasn't an exercise in styling wonder. It was what was inside the package that won friends and influenced people. Bring the boring spoiler if you like, Honda. Just make the internals good and make sure it's fun.

Does the BGW actually offer any aero benefits over the mule wing, or for that matter does the mule wing offer any benefit or are both basically "sporty" show peices. I do not recall the trophy-r needing a BGW or four exhaust exits and that is surely the car it will be compared against.
I actually liked the concept as it appeared the Honda stylists had gone fk it, lets make a hot hatch with polorising styling that looks mental. Yet the mules appear half harted as if the programme managers do not have the curage to put the concept into production. I can understand that the BGW may struggle with type approval but the lights and front-end surely wouldn't?

If this Prius knock off is what becomes of the Honda Type R, then only the real Honda fanatics will be interested.
The original concept would have stolen many a Focus RS, Renaultsport, Subaru customers. This design much less so.
Nope. If it becomes those spy sts... Sorry... Shots pictured I will not be interested in it. The original concept would have stolen many a Focus RS, Renaultsport, Subaru customers. This design much less so.
I personally love the concept. I would buy that. I will not but anything resembling the spy sts... Dam it... Shots.
