Shiny new thing more interesting to journos than what is effectively a 3-4 year old concept.

Not really a surprise is it? This car has been in the wings a long long time.

The proof will be in the performance it offers. If it annihilates the opposition then it'll be like this conversation never happened.

I don't recall anyone saying a GTR was a particularly attractive car but it's devastatingly good at doing what it was designed to do - be really bloody fast.

"I’d love Honda to prove me wrong but the new NSX seems a bit too Zen to go racing."

Isn't it obvious why the NSX was overshadowed by the Ford GT?

The Ford GT, whether you like it or not, does have a wow factor about it. The NSX, although I like it, doesn't. So purely on aesthetics, the GT wins hands down. The NSX is nothing ground breaking in looks. As many have said, it's very R8 in it's styling.

We'll just have to wait for the road tests to see if the NSX creeps back from under that shadow.

I think the price held it back, they where not cheap, I had a deposit down on one for a couple of months but ended up with a B5 RS4

Personally I think they missed wihtthe NSX by making it overcomplicated and not int he spirit of the original and that philosophy has translated directly to the design. there is just way too much going on there.
Love the original which will remain a great marker in the history of sports cars, I think this will most likely not have anything like that legacy.

Honda badge.

The last one was completely overshadowed by offerings from Porsche and Ferrari and it anything the image of Honda has got worse over the last decade.

There's a lot of rose tinted specs when it comes to the original NSX.

Too much tech in the NSX. 10 years down the line (when I might be able to afford one), the batteries will all be shot, the convoluted electric motors and accompanying transmission will be a mess of broken sensors and failing parts. The jagged polygon lines of the body will age terribly, too.

The GT is simple, to the point, and much better looking IMO!

Making a note to come back in 2025 to see if I was right ;-)
When have you ever seen a Honda break down?

Not exactly exciting and sexy is it. More like a corporate extension to other saloons on the way...

Erm, isn't that point? It's how they justify building the NSX and we - the consumer - should surely just be happy that there is another option in the marketplace?

I still think that they should have developed the styling from the HSV-010 SuperGT car, that had the makings of a far more sleek looking car. It also had a beautiful sounding engine in the racecar.

I second that, the HSV looked stunning, especially the rear tail lights. The NSX looks good, but just a bit meek for my liking.

And I waited 20 years for the NSX.
Fell in love ever since I saw Winston Wolf driving one.

Where to put a duffle bag in the new Ford GT on a tour of the Alps? Maybe the NSX offers a bit of baggage space which is essential on a vehicle that isn't meant as a track day only car.

Don'T like the show-effect of the Ford GT, to me personally it's too much wannabe racer.

It's like it's taken hardly any design cues from the previous NSX' - the only thing I notice are the bulging front arches. It just looks boring....

The Ford does not look boring at all, I'm not a fan of the rear but the rest looks awesome. I'm especially impressed by the top down view, the flowing shapes and lines are amazing!

I'm desperately trying to get my name on an order which is proving very difficult . I can only assume they are all allocated.

Only in the sense they didn't sell many.

Absolutely. At least that was visually exciting, sexy and fresh. The new NSX is a bland corporate turd by comparison.

You think the point is to make a halo model so dull and boring that nobody in the world looks twice? Maybe you should get a job at Honda as they obviously agree with you. Luckily other manufacturers 'get' what a halo model is all about.

Very true. Lots of keyboard warriors out here bemoaning the styling, but in the metal on the street it will carry supercar presence, something the lardy and enormous GTR has never had (despite performing like one).

To be honest, if you hadn't told me it was the new NSX, then at a glance that photo I would have assumed to be some bland corperate jap saloon and skipped over it.

I'd say part of the issue is that the gt has seemingly come out of nowhere, while nsx concepts have been kicking about shows since 2012, possibly earlier. If there hadn't been previous show cars it may have had more of the spotlight.
