I only want two cars in the dream garage. A 996 GT3RS and one of these.
Same as me :-) These are the two cars I love and want to own...

I saw one advertised about 3/4 years ago in the UK and it was only c38k from memory. Was sorely tempted but wanted to try something else before my NSX "forever" car - doh.....
The one you are speaking about was previously owned by my friend, it was an NA1 NSX-R on an L-Reg as per this link - http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...
I drove this car many times and loved every second of it.

Four hundred and thirty three THOUSAND US DOLLARS!

I like them. But come one!

And you can't use it in the UK since it'd not been type approved. Surely there's a work around for this?
The NA2 NSX was officially sold in the UK, so the Type R has type-approval.
Maybe not type approval then. confused I can't find details, but there's a reason you can't import one and use it in the UK though. Unless Im confused with the NA1 shaped cars? Anybody know details? Think it's something about no drivers airbag maybe?

There is and was an NA1 NSX-R as per the link above that my friend sold to the seller who's advert was spotted and commented on (if you see the forum chat there you'll see all the comments and details of the car etc). There is also an NA2 NSX-R in the UK (and I believe up until only a few years ago) there was only one of each version in the UK on the roads.

The NA2 NSX-R in the UK is very rarely seen or heard of whereas my friend used to use the NA1 NSX-R regularly.

Both are amazing machines and having driven the NA1 NSX-R I can confirm that they are amazing to drive, they have such a feel and vibe about them its unreal and hard to put into words. If I could afford one I would have one without a second thought (but both are well out of my price range unfortunately) :-(

R32GTR wasn't sold in the UK, but seem easy enough to register, so why not an NSX type R?

I don't doubt its ability or its legendary status, but to my eye it just doesn't look particularly nice; really, really dated without looking classic.

It must be possible to use one in the UK - N5XRR is still going.

Rules changed in the late-90s/early-00s.

Something to do with SVA / IVA changes. AIUI, now it's expensive to do the first time around, but cheap the second, IF you can persuade the person who did it first time around to give/sell you the relevant data...
