Have we seen this, btw?

Was linked from the 'too much power' thread.

Gets interesting about a dozen posts in.

Mental. I suspect part of the warm up procedure for driving it involves things like snowboarding down the Shard and castratiing wild tigers with your teeth.

Had a Levante in stock a couple of years ago funnily enough. Bonkers but doesn't appeal to me to be honest.

Super pic! cool

Last couple of CGTS I've seen were advertised for £150k. And I say Derek Bell's would have broken that level if ever advertised for sale

The trajectory of the CGT's pricing has been most odd, to me at least. Is there a reserve on that auction one do you know? I'll hazard a guess that if there is and it's above £30k then the car won't sell. Trofeo Cars had one advertised for years at £40k-ish, then went POA as soon as others seemed to be selling for £75k+ last year

Meh... I recall a visit to Eagle racing in the mid '80s when they also specialized in parts for old Elan's.
Partly covered under a tarpaulin, there was an old Lotus 7 with a DFV shoe horned in! smile

Hopefully Herr Bell has got his CGT running well now? wink

It's funny, isn't it. One always wants more power, but I agree - it doesn't appeal to me.

I think I'd find the Levante much more appealing if it looked (more) like a "normal" R400/500, rather than having silly lights, multiple aero addenda, etc.

I wouldn't say no to this though... It would need a proper windscreen (so you could use it to pop to the shops to get a pint of milk), but otherwise that's about my perfect spec. Manual gearbox; screaming K series engine; proper roll-cage - oh, and orange.

Funnily enough I posted about that very R500 in one of the Caterham threads just the other day.

Perfect.

Pretty sure my chum has just bought that according to my Facebook. Looks like a riot.

However, 28k buys you a lot of motorbike and a Caterham is effectively a four-wheeled bike, only less fun.

What a boring place the world would be etc.

ETA: Yep - that very car.

Windscreens are for girls. wink Perfectly usable with just an aeroscreen, with the benefits of faster acceleration and the means to more easily lose your licence at the top end. biggrindriving

Lucky lad - best fun that can be had with clothes on. thumbup

I compromised with my last two and fitted (well, paid a man to fit) the interchangeable aeroscreen setup to get the best of both worlds.

I just loved driving roof up in the rain, gave a totally different sensation to driving either roof off or with the aeroscreen. Gawd I miss having a Caterham.

I watched this oh so many times on vhs back in the late 90's driving

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYkXJaxmMSA

And this picture sums up most of my Caterham driving:

Just seen that auction listing now with that CGT: https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1981-porsche-9...

Extremely low-miles EvoII with £140-160k estimate: https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1990-mercedes-...

£50-60k estimate: https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1987-ford-sier...

That 190 is a real test of the current market now I think

Thanks Loon

That's mrs rejn's birthday present sorted (and hopefully a big pile of brownie points banked for me).
