I was looking at that advert the other day.

There's no doubt that an early 996 with Ambers is aging well. I wasn't a fan, and always used to prefer the later non fried-egg lights, but I've changed views recently and really like the early cars. Not sure I could live with the green though...

this one looks nice - just add amber.

ETA: despite what I say about fried egg lights, this looks mighty fine (i think it's mostly the colour, I like):

According to wiki, it's under 3" longer and 4" wider than the 997.

I don't think it's that BIG smile
Are those figures correct? That makes it massively bigger in my book!

964s look ridiculously small when next to 997s/991s.
biggrin
Ha. I knew it. They are all the same size. Despite the conspiracy theories on here. smile
**cough**

That's drawn exactly to scale, surprised me too.

I've just pulled together some weight data (from a US website, but hopefully still about right for UK cars):

Model Weight
Early 996 C2 1320kg
Early 996 C4 1375kg
Late 996 C4 1405kg
(Late) 996 C4S 1470kg
997 C4S 1475kg
991 C4S 1445kg

150kg extra in a C4S versus an early C2.

996/997 about the same and 991 lighter.

Early 996 it is, then. (unless it's a 997S, of course)...

That's about fookin perfect, Ruby, Heritage Caramel and Tree, wibble...... wink
Oooo I agree a very nice combination, my preference would be a facelift in Oxford Green with Caramel and Tree!

Just checked to MOT history and it looks like the rot has set into the sills.... Hmmmm
And people say you need to spend at least £10k for a sorted one now...

Suspension could likely do with a going over too.

This is just getting stupid now. A Cooking 996 Carrera is an infinitely better steer than the 968, and half the price.

That is true but I want a 968CS more than a 996 Carrera though, and therein lies the rub. It's not about which model is better with any of these 'classic' car prices, it's down to exclusivity, desirability, how collectable etc etc
