Seems a bit OTT - man buys old car with known brake problem and it needs £500 of brake parts? Hardly a shocking outcome!

ETA: and he paid just £750 for a twin plenum example - wow!
Yes, he seemed to give up quite easily

15/16 years ago you couldn't give stuff like that away

yes Col Goodwin was always hilarious. Loved his 427 Elk and the purchase story was brilliant (trip to the states, with coast to coast drive!). Lots of time for Andrew Frankel too (still scribing for Motorsport I believe, not sure about other titles).
Col Goodwin, top bloke, he drove a LCC Rocket in reverse at over 100 mph (I think it's still a Guinness World Record) serious brave pills required, they wander about a fair bit over 100 going forward !

ETA he also asked to borrow my old Rocket about 5 years ago and attempt a lap of Brands Indy in reverse, I politely declined, more down to fact that Autocar wouldn't cover any mechanical failure.

ETA: sorry iPhone photo so it's on its side.

And yes - some of the mags are stored in cheap french wine boxes!!! I think those ones haven't been out in the open for a good few years - can't wait to get them sorted out!

Gents, has anyone one on here ever owned one of these ? I had one on order back in the day but dropped it and went with a used Delta Integrale Evo 1, an engine and a turbo rebuild later wondered if I should have gone down the Mitsubishi route but no regrets for having owned the Lancia, another one I wish I'd kept.

From a test drive back in the day I remember being impressed, it's hard to find original unmolested U.K. Evo VI’s with decent history (lots of Jap imports now coming in) and wondering if a good one of these might be the next E30 M3’s, Sierra Cosworths etc. ? This looks decent and at close to £10k doesn’t seem too unreasonable, I think I prefer the base model to the Makinen which seem to be a lot more, or is the Makinen the one to have ?

Rocket - nice. Not driven one for ages but remember being a bit light headed afterwards! I think they have appeal although the running costs match the performance (still can't get over the service intervals!).

moose - £12.00! wink

Loon and I were chatting about these the other day. MR260, pretty much the least powerful Evo, was always my preferred steer. However, this looks a bit fruity;

£10k-ish of Jap turbo nutter motor says R32 to me.

Driven many flavours of Mitsisushi Evos and they are all really very good indeed apart from the 400 imo.

My choice would be an Evo V or VI purely for the fact that I think they look the best and feel the most raw if memory serves me correct. They are (were) dear to run though but I do like them.

Cheers chaps, I do like a nice R32 but finding an unmolested one is tough task these days it seems, Evo VII nice but prefer the slightly older school look of the VI.

On another note, and one of pure unobtanium, I'm fantasising about this today. Quote from the advert :

'One can only imagine the astonishing sight of this pure sports racing car howling through the length of France, on its newly registered Milan number plates.'

I think that would be about as close to motoring Nirvana as it gets for me. cloud9

The VI is the iconic one IMO, if not the most capable.

ISTR the (import only IIRC) RS versions have a less intrusive or disabled AYC. I always found most Evos needed to be driven on their own terms or cornering turns into an awkward 50p'ing type experience.

I actually ended up preferring a DCCD equipped Impreza.

I'm typing this from an overcast Brands Hatch. Looks like rain on its way just in time for the evening track session. Should make it more fun. I'm having a pedal In a friends supercharges vx220 that I've not driven before... Don't even know how many gears it's got let alone how fast you can chuck it into paddock hill bend in the wet!!! Should be fun!
